Interesting question! I reckon they would have used a prototype (pre-)WW2 camouflage, like they used the M56 helmet which was an older design.

Ok ill see if i can dig something out for this, my goal is to get infantry (Motor and Mech) to look as if they were DDR troops 1990 and onward. Ive seen some Romanian troops that look pretty close to a "what if" for pre-2000. By 2003 former nations like Poland and Czech have developed their styles and own uniforms so im wondering if the DDR would probably adopt the Polish BDU or Russian variant by 2004 and then probably go digital like everybody else in Europe by 2008?

I would think either one of these: http://camopedia.org/index.php?title=East_Germany or this nice splinter camo: http://s3.amazonaws.com/spoonflower/public/design_thumbnails/0119/1588/rrFJ_Splitter_B_Composite_spoonflower_copy_shop_preview.png

I believe the first link is a 1950's era camo that they initially tried and ended up giving them to the Border Guards while the regular army had that Rain Drop pattern, after the Berlin Wall and re-evaluation of the Armed Forces remaining independent, there going to look for a new type of camo to bring in a new era image. The 2nd link could be a possibility.

It's because West Germany's administration capital was Bonn but the map doesn't have a province for it, so I changed the name although in the map Koln persists because it's much work to edit the graphics on the map.
Question for the Alternate Historical Route for this; (For the graphic pack im putting together)

If DDR was to remain independent past 1990 and maintained its military, would the Army's camo evolve into what the Polish or Russians have from the tan rain drop pattern or develop a german like pattern from previous ones such as ones from WW2 or Soviet Camo?
Unfortunately I don't have that deep military history knowledge to have say on this matter :D but would you be instered to make this kind of pictures for all majors and medium powers? I can put it in the front page as an alternative in color, although I like MrNazar's sepia version as well, but the more the better.

Hi Hansnery,
First of all excellent mod, it is really awesome and for me very stable, actually very very stable to be an Alpha.

I've come across a couple of bugs and some issues though, I don't know if they are known or not so I'll put them here anyway:

1-NATO doctrines do not upgrade HQs and some NATO countries (Italy and France for example) don't have them, is it WAD?
2-Paratroopers and Marines brigades are not buildable, I don't know if divisions are I must check again.

That's all for bugs I've found and have not saw on this board. Now issues:

1-There is a lack of resources,metals especially, in the early game and it becomes worse later.
2-Is there a way to increase the research technology? Or is it a placeholder for next versions?
3-I think Mandela decisions should be event instead, I played until 2000 as south africa without firing it with no consequences, mantaining apartheid should be possible but costly in my opinion, maybe leave them as decision but add a dissent increasing event that pops from time to time if you don't pick one of the options and a civil war if you keep him in prison (for next version of course).
4-How did you calculate IC levels? Was it only balancing or did you base it on GDP or industrial production?
5-Brazil builds huge GDP, it surpassed USSR in my South African game reaching >600 actual IC by 1995.
6-If I may, I would suggest some changes in italian tech teams listed below. (name: specialities to be added)

Oto Melara:automotive, technical efficiency;
ENEA:nuclear physics;
Comando Logistico:management, gen. equipment;
Accademia Militare di Modena:Training, mountain training, airborne training;
Iveco:automotive;
Agustawestland:avionics, aircraft testing (note: it should be AgustaBell in 1985, I know tech teams are from MDS but just for perfection :p);
Alenia:avionics, aircraft testing, fighter design;
Fincantieri:technical efficiency;
Beretta:munitions, training;
1. I'm trying to keep a balance in the resources so they don't get very cheap, so countries that export resources can have an income. But I will raise it to prevent shortages.
2. It is a placeholder for next versions.
3. Yes, that was the initial plan but I decided to focus on the majors first, but I will implement it eventually.
4. I used data from NWO with some tweaks.
5. I swear it's not because I'm brazilian :D . I intend to make events for Brazil that better simulate it's growth. In fact in this time we were in much trouble economically.
6. I will implement them.

------------

PS: Sneak peak of the initial work for 0.2 (don't worry I will release hotfixes in between :) ):

Good one with Milosevic for me.

Also I'll check for some data about countries industrial production in 1985 ( sorry it is a professional deformation :p). Anyway thanks for the answer.

Slobodan's rise to power began earlier than 1987. He was elected to the leadership of Serbia's League of Communists in late May 1986, winning votes from most of the League's municipial boards both in Serbia proper and in it's two autonomous regions (Kosovo and Vojvodina) not to mention the whole leadership of the League's Belgrade branch which he was heading at the time.

I'm not sure what the efects of this decision's choices are, but if you don't have any yet I'd suggest that the Greater Serbia one reduces dissent, but sets flags that will make it more likely for the other republics to seceede from the federation, while the brootherhood and unity decision should increase dissent. By this time dissent should be high (I'll write you up some event descriptions as soon as I get the time) IC modifier relatively low (this was a time of economic depression and rising unemployment in the country, again, I'll write you the descriptions if you want) so that even the player who knows how it all turned out in the end would have a reason to pick the Greater Serbia decision.

Well, after play TP I have to say this: Best Mod ever!! Congratulations and thank you for making this possible!

Playing with FRG

- A bit of freezing when events popup, but nothing serious
- Trade Agreements are not working (I proposed agreements to US, never got answer)
- To test the mod, i declared war: France left NATO (?), US only helped with air strikes. I think communist have to many divisions...
- Sound is Great!!!!!
- Investments decision is not working.

For an alpha this is AMAZING. I will work a bit on portuguese leaders, tech teams and ministers ;)

Hans you know a hardcore Bosnian (former Yugoslav) is opened for suggestions and help regarding the break-up of Yugoslavia.
You can help drawing a timeline or maybe a chain of events, although I'm already getting far on that.

Although I will use historical dates as well, I will try to make it a little more interesting by making the events more dynamic and some other things... ;)

Well, after play TP I have to say this: Best Mod ever!! Congratulations and thank you for making this possible!

Trade agreements are working as far as I know, you should see if the messages are not off as that's how I play (with auto trade on and trade messages off), so maybe my config went together with the mod.
France wasn't in NATO at the time but they will likely join NATO if they are attacked.
Investments are working too you just need to press Open Investment Decisions, then wait for a day and they will appear (the same for Political Decisions).

I notice you have a World in Conflict mode, but could a later release have a Red Storm Rising mode? Red Storm Rising is an interesting Tom Clancy novel, and definitely deserves some love in mod format. This could be in a much later version, though.

I also have some noob questions since I've never played darkest hour before this mod:

How can I build IC?
How can I get more than 1 research team?

In the 1985 start, Iraq's entire air force is based in Florida.

I also have some noob questions since I've never played darkest hour before this mod:

How can I build IC?
How can I get more than 1 research team?

There are 2 ways to build IC:-Right click on the province and choose build industry
- Just click on the provine and click on the industry icon (you can`t build industry in provinceces wich have less than 30% infrastructure)

You can get more Research teams by building IC !
