Some thoughts on the dissolution of the US of A.
- There should be an option for Mexico to join the Soviet Union against the US. For their help, they could get some of the border states.
- Or Mexico could take advantage of the situation and invade the southern nations one by one.
- The Wisconsin Republic, Great Lakes Republic and the Appalachian Republic should be 1 nation or maybe be able to unite later on. Maybe a democratic coup (If it starts as socialist) could happen to it, and it could be the archenemy of the USSA or rivals of the Central Republic, the hope for the return of the good old USA.
- California Could have Nevada. The New Mexican Republic could fight with California for the two other regions of Deseret.

If I make another scenario I can implement some of your ideas or you can just play with any of them and do it yourself. I will think of some event to restore the US.

I believe they go to the soviets, I think it makes sense for Hawaii to not have independence in this case, mostly due to the fact that the only real government that existed there was a monarchy, and soviet relations with those aren't as good as history told us. Alaska I think should go to a puppet Canada, A it could use the oil, and B Not many Russian live in Alaska, so justifying it seems hard, even if it was once Russian territory.
If American states are supposed to become Soviet puppets, I suppose Deseret Republic should be renamed. Name 'Deseret' comes from the Book of Mormon (it supposedly means 'honeybee') and was the name used by early Mormon settlers of the Salt Lake Valley who were seeking to establish a huge, theocratic state. Not surprisingly, the U.S. government refused the offer. When Utah finally became a state, 1) its name was not derived from the Mormon faith, 2) it was not a theocracy, and 3) it was not huge.

How about a nation composed of aboriginal/Indian/Native American (whichever term you choose) people? I'd love to see an Sioux, Iroquois, or Navajo nation. Sadly, their populations are much smaller than I would have guessed.

I thought about all that, but I just thought it would be cool to keep them in. Maybe if I add a Republic after the name it will be more reasonable. Or we can think that the name Deseret which means Honeybee reminds of a sense of community, the soviets could just keep all the religion side out or they could just accept whatever support they could get.
PS: They don't start huge though, only have huge claims.

Still and Indian nation is completely outrageous, I mean there is literally no way in hell that such a nation formed out of such a tiny minority can possibly even begin to govern, I mean even with Soviet troops it would take outright 'g word' to begin to be able to control the population.
