Hey I'm wondering. When this mod comes out is it possible to use your leader files for the NWO mod? Because only Bizon is working on it and I am thinking of importing WATW(RIP EvW) ministers to DHF. However it will be very hard to find leaders. Is it ok if I have permission for this?
Hello, I have no leader files yet, Falconette is the only one working on them right now and so far for Russia only. I already sent ministers to Bizon though.

Iron Lady?

-Industrial efficiency because muh privatization
+Money because muh privatization
+dissent growth
-consumer goods need because free markets
:D
I thought you'd be biased but this is actually good.
Helmut Kohl: "The Chancellor of Unity"

+dissent growth, as he was quite unpopular
-diplomatic action cost
+diplomatic action success chance - skilled negotiator
-Money because party corruption

Ronald Reagan: "The Cold Warrior"
-diplomatic action success chance
+diplomatic cost - hardliner, not nice to commies
+Industrial efficiency - Reagonomics
-Unit Buildtime - Armed forces build up

Nicolae Ceaușescu: "Stalinist Dictator"
+Dissent growth - hated by people
+Intelligence mission chance - Secret police powerful
- Industrial efficiency - Nepotism to the max
+Diplomatic action success - Independent foreign policy
I like Reagan's effects, the name not so much. The other's names and effects are good too (maybe except Kohl as there's a dispute :D)
Kohl should only get this trait if the unification actually happens ofc. Before 1989 he was a pretty mediocre chancellor, probably a Backroom Backstabber.

Reagan's diplo penalties should be limited by ideology- he got along fine with right-leaning folks like himself.
He got along fine with Gorbachev as well, despite some of his speeches.

There's already a Deng Xiaoping trait in DHF and will be part of 1.04.

DPERSONALITY_DENG_XIAOPING;Considered a 'capitalist roader' by Mao and denounced countless times, Deng Xiaoping found himself as the 'paramount leader' of China after Mao Zedong, becoming the standard bearer for the reformist faction within the Communist Party after the group's previous leader, Zhou Enlai, died. Believing in the welfare of the people, Deng preferred pragmatic actions over political dogma. Having some administrative and economic knowledge himself, he was able to outmaneuver his economically uneducated political opponents with crafty economic policies to implement his market reforms, such as claiming further expansionary market reforms would reduce inflation introduced by initial experiments with market reform. Said policies in reality only produce short term deflationary effects due to expansion of supply, before even greater inflation kicks in. Through these proposals, he was able to transition China from a highly inefficient decentralized communist system under Mao to the efficient modern mixed economy found today. Unfortunately, his tenure also saw a marked increase in corruption, a problem which is one of the main issues affecting China today. He never held an official post of power himself.;;;;;;;;;;X
NPERSONALITY_DENG_XIAOPING;Capitalist Reformer;;;;;;;;;;X

Ronald Reagan:
-diplomatic action success chance
+diplomatic cost - hardliner, not nice to commies
--Industrial efficiency - Reagonomics
-Consumer Good Need - Reagonomics
+Money Production - favor the rich
-Unit Buildtime - defense spending
+dissent - reagonomics
Fixed for you. There was actually a recession as a result of Reagan's policies at the onset. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_1980s_recession#Political_fallout. Reagen should get an IC penalty but money bonus and CG need bonus. I also dislike the trait name.

Ronald Reagan:
-Minister of Armament: Trickle Down Economics (requires new trait) or Free Market Proponent
-Minister of Security: Ideological Crusader or Staunch Anti-Communist (modify existing trait for Dai Li description to be more generic)
-Head of Government: No idea what it should be. Popular Deregulator, Media Star, Anti-government Crusader, Military Proponent
Interesting facts about Reagan:
-Tax revenue increased under Reagan's term as a % of GDP, contrary to popular opinion. This means the real tax level increased.
-Deficits increased under Reagan's term, contrary to popular opinion. This is why the first Bush had to raise taxes.
-Unemployment rates increased to 10% under Reagan's term
-Huge military and defense spending is like a stimulus (although imo military and defense spending is not the best investment of government money).
-Reagen increased mistrust of the government. His personal disapproval ratings were quite high as well.

As a side note, it's sad really how so many politicians praise Reagan for things he didn't do and how he is associated with policies he never personally implemented.

I'm not trying to defend Reagan, but by the time Turning Point starts, the recession and unemployment of his first term are gone and the economy's doing well. I'm with you on the consumer goods reduction, but maybe we could add a big dissent increase penalty instead of an industrial penalty? Media Star sounds good for his Head of Government trait.

There's a difference between an economy doing well because it inevitably recovered and an economy doing well because of the minister's policies. The other choice would be to increase wartime IC, decrease peacetime IC, while increasing CG need (focus on defense spending) and increase money production.

Modern cavalry

2ZxBoZI.jpg

hansnery, in vanilla cavalry was one unit, but in mod it is divided, how correctly to name files for air and armoured cavalry? (temporally I put letter "x")

Not to rock the boat, but could you change this slightly. I believe Eastern Block Armored Cav would look something more like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRDM-1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRDM-2
Maybe even this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMD-1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMD-2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMD-3
Final Tier: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMPT

Even with this they look great, it just somehow sets off my OCD, like the the AN-94, it's just not right to me.

Nato stuff looks great though

On the subject of tanks, other than the sherman they seem kinda out of order, considering the make and models of these tanks, Nato would be ahead of Russian tanks. Challangers and leopard 2 especially, considering challenger armor is rock solid and the leopard 2 gun will evaporate everything from 8 kilometers away. But these are only suggestions and you do not need to listen to them in any way shape or form, because you are doing this shit for free.

I believe these are the generic ones, he will make Warsaw Pact and NATO later.

Also, the techtree of Air Cavalry starts in 1965 but this is no problem.

Reading the previous comments i'm a bit worried about bias seeping into the game :( I'm a bit worried that in the end the mod will be slanted pretty hard towards one side of opinion towards leaders. I hope a balance is found.

Don't get me wrong, I really like this mod and the setting, but IMO I kinda dislike the fact that it uses the E3 Map (that map is indeed awesome), but it eliminates the option to merge this mod with NWO2 or adding it to NWO2 for instance. I really, really liked the previous version which used the vanilla DH Full map. Please don't hate me, it's just my opinion :)

That's why I'm asking people's opinions, if you disagree if any post them here so we can find a balance.

Oh, I thought that was only limited to the people actually developing the game.

Anyways I think the controversial leaders which in the thread seem to be Thatcher and Reagan, should be balanced out since it's one of those topics that's hotly debated today and is going to cause complaints either way and choosing a side on the issue will just make people that much angrier. In that respect I actually like Insert's posts ideas for Reagan and Thatcher.

As for the Soviets, they were racked with corruption and inefficiency but the blame shouldn't be solely put on Gorbachev, the USSR was like a tree with a healthy bark on the outside but a rotting interior. I don't know if the ideologies have been changed with this mod so I'll use the vanilla names. I think Gorbachev should be a Social-Democrat, Boris Yeltsin a (horribly ineffective) Market Liberal or (just as horrible) Social-Democrat (it's hard to pin him since he didn't affiliate with a party after the fall of the Soviet Union). Putin, if we're going that far in the timeline, should be a paternal-autocrat.

My idea for a very worst case scenario of a successful 1991 coup (picking the most authoritarian and unpopular options) would be that Russia makes a hardline lurch to Authoritarian Communism/Statism and tries to perform a Tienanmen Square like mop up on dissenters and protesters in Moscow as well as arresting many politicians only to make things worse, dissent rises and eventually the Republics break off from Russia either in defiance to the hardliners or an attempt to keep stability. Shortly after a Russian Federation will appear and a civil war will happen. During the civil war Russia would economically collapse, after the civil war the hardliners could try to exert control over the breakaway countries and take them back.

NATO could also have the option to step in and invade Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to remove the nuclear weapons (with a as a side of regime change :) )

That's all I can think of there. :p

Gorbachev as a potential Russian Federation minister should probably be Social Democrat, but as General Secretary I can't see him as anything more democratic than Left-Wing Radical. My understanding is that he (initially) wanted to reform Soviet-style socialism, not transition to a form of "Market Socialism."

I wouldn't mind his trait being called "Doomed Reformer" myself:D, shows you my views on how well he did.

Please don't hate me, it's just my opinion :)

eeeex
Initially I contemplated this possibility and approached Bizon with the idea. But he's already expanding the timeline of his mod and has a unique view design-wise. He keeps as close to vanilla as possible, my mod is going to change nearly all aspects of DH. Don't worry I don't hate you :D . Maybe I hate myself for all the work it was needed to change the map.

That's awesome.

I've thought of the possibility of civil war. But deciding which side each part of the country would fight would be difficult. Central Asia would probably stick with the hardliners if they were winning but I think it would only work if there was no Boris Yeltsin controlling Russia. Still, we can always go ahistorical.
:)

Thanks everybody for the support, I hope I don't let you down. Right now there are plenty of people helping me in different areas. Hopefully we'll have this mod until August. ;)

Will there by any incentive to play as any other country beside USSR or USA(and perhaps China too)? Because it seems that this is realistic for the most part so WW3 is player-selected.
