I've noticed with the Modern Day scenario that quite a number of unit types were changed around, altered, or otherwise made new in some fashion.

So what I'm wondering is if it's possible to alter brigades into a different unit type. What I want to do is turn the useless(to me, because I never use them) anti-air brigades into a CVL Carrier Air Group. Is this possible?

Yes...

EDIT: Note you will not be able to build the CVL with the Light-CAG attached. Like militia you will need to build them separately and then attach them after construction.

Great!

Can you point me to a guide somewhere that will give me the basic information I need in order to do this properly? I didn't see one linked in the Wiki, though I might've just missed it somewhere.

Actually, never mind. I figured most of it out.

I am having a slight difficulty, however. It's giving me an error about the statistics not being "known in a Land Division" which tells me I need to alter the unit type somehow in models.csv, I'm guessing. How would I go about this?

I haven't actually tried this, but have seen it done...now if I could only remember which mod.

My best guess would be to...copy the contents of the cag.txt to replace your anti_air.txt and then modify the values within.

That's what I did. The problem is that it's detecting values like seaattack which aren't values land brigades can use and thus going haywire over it.

Although, I wonder...if I can't do it this way, is it possible to create the brigade models in the CAG file instead? That is, place a placebo model after the Improved Turbojet CAG and then place the CVL CAGs after it? Or is there a limit of ten models to each unit type?

You could do it. But make sure to put a dummy model for every tenth model, so that models 10, 20, 30, etc can never be constructed.

does this work for increasing the number of models for a unit??? just us a dumb/placibo model in the 10 20 and 30 model slot?????

It can be done (for example HSR uses this) but it will cause memory leaks. It's not adviced thing to do. And there are several threads about the issue, just check some older ones.

Yes, best just limit the models to ten. I think it was Lothos or Luxor who had this memory leak problem confirmed by Paradox stuff.

And there's another problem, I'm discovering: I have to build the CAGs for the regular carriers separately, because they want to auto-use the CAGs I set up for the CVLs.

Thus I'm hit in the face by that annoying Armageddon disappearing naval brigade bug.

So I figure, it's not worth it after all. So much for that experiment...
