I am on turn 91 and the AI has yet to declare war or attack me only thing they have been doing is surveying :/ Is the AI broken? im on six player map fight with 6 AI on medium difficultiy.

Or am i suppose to start the war first..

load up the game and right click on one of their slots, check out their empire. some people have reported some serious budgetary issues with the AI.

or, try going to war and seeing if they fight back, depending on which you'll enjoy more.

A few major features of the game are not implemented yet, Trade and diplomacy are two of them. The AI is not working with a full deck becuase of this, and I suspect they have them set to be non aggressive. That should change greatly in the next few weeks.

But yes, declaring war on them will start the hostilities, they won't do it themselves.

Yeah i just checked 2 of them are in debt and other 3 are not so im guessing they are set to non aggresive.

Btw i also notice that the AI lack taste in ship design i mean they only have one type of weapons on there ships full mass drivers or missiles :/

Yea that is all on the backburner while they work on stability, then Features(AI goes here), then polish.
The good new is the major stability patching is done so they should be starting on re-implementing features.

When I play I just expand a little bit. Stop and see what the AI does. It does not do much I must say. When you finally do go to war... Mostly because he sent scouts to your system and I have a policy of kill anything that don't look human wars...

The ai will send fleets when war is official.. But they will be colony fleets and scout fleets and Construction fleets.

In theory diplomacy & trade should be added in this weeks major patch. In theory.

Nothing promised about diplomacy or putting in a war AI. Trade, drones and defense manager.

There's not much point playing with less than a full quota of human opponents yet. You can unilaterally attack and wipe out the AI whenever you're ready. I don't know how long it will take to make a challenging computer opponent. I would imagine it will need more than one update to do, and there are still other things to work on that apply to both human and computer opponents, which might come earlier in the schedule.

i suspect the AI will become substantially less flawed after trade is back; it seems a fairly key part of the organisation and budgeting of an empire, with lots of things that have an effect on it in the tech tree or in the province bonuses. Cashflow seems to be one of the AI's big problems. the other seems to be, from what i've seen, combat AI; but i suspect that the AI uses the Stances, which are currently broken, so hopefully when they're fixed it'll get better.

in short, i don't think it'll be fixed by friday's patch, but i think there's grounds for hoping it will improve.
