I just have to share my current amazing campaign with you fine folks. The story of how in three generations I went from a Turkish Tengri nomad to Orthodox Saint to Pontifex Maximus.

Started as the Yabguid Khan next to the Aral sea. My plan was to conquer Constantinople for the achievement. But I went on to gather 2 more.

The first character was nothing of note, just kept fighting some wars with my nomadic neighbors, expanding my realm, building skull thrones etc... After his death his young ambitious son Kasim came to power. During his reign the Khanate spanned from Mongolia to the Russian lands in the west. One notable event included the Germanics reforming their faith:

Or France being inherited by this Croatian lad:

After basically living his entire life on the back of a horse Khan Kasim decided to conquer the rump state of Rome in the east. Their armies were exhausted from previous wars and revolts, it was a rather simple conquest. Only one thing followed...

The pagan Turks followed their Khan settling in the jewel of the east replacing the original inhabitants of the city.

The achievement has been successfully achieved - but why not strive for more? Why not have some more fun with this campaign? So I decided to play the dice by continuing as the Byzantine Emperor/(Khan?) and converting to the religion of the majority. This worked out well, as the Khan was a cynical old fox at the time

So I just went with the flow. Started conquering left and right, reclaiming the old Roman lands lost centuries ago. Worked like a charm with my event spawned 10K pure cavalry stack! Soon all of the Apennine peninsula was firmly under Roman (Turkish?o_O) control.

And at the ripe age of 68 Padishah/Emperor/Basileus/Khan Kasim united Christendom.

A former pagan nomadic barbarian, who only received Christ at 55 stood as the saviour of Christendom. I mean what a feat, but it doesn't end here... At the time Kasim legitimately found interest in his new-found identity as a living saint and joined the Order of St. Basil to learn more about the intricacies of the religion he only out of pragmatism joined. On this path he gained plenty of virtuous traits, formed many friendships, studied theology, some say - even performed a number of miracles. His cynicism long gone, he fully embraced Christianity, even going as far to proclaim himself celibate for life and writing a number of religious poems. He was also an avid hunter enjoying himself on the back of a horse just like in his youth on the eternal grassy sea of the eastern steppes...

His son and heir Bayezid too was showing a promising future. Taking after his father in many ways, a brilliant young mind of a scholar, but talented in the fields of diplomacy and warfare none the less.

He will surely bring even more greatness to the Tur-ehm ROMAN empire.

Immediately after the passing of the beloved emperor, the Patriarch in Consta-ehm-ISTANBUL beautified his majesty for his relentless struggles to pursue the glory of God, charity and uniting Christendom under the Orthodox church.

And after a short while... He has also been canonized as a saint! BOOM - second achievement unlocked.
20190217215649_1.jpg

The new emperor was an inquisitive type. A true mastermind in all fields, he focused his brilliance mainly on scholarly matters, joining the Hermetic society to unravel the mysteries of the world. In his pursuit of knowledge he built a magnificent laboratory and an observatory. His personal library totaled more books than that of Alexandria all those years ago. His passion for books and learning was truly the one thing he valued the most. He went on to invent countless inventions with his colleagues from the hermetic society. Some prominent examples being a handgun and a sextant. He also single-handedly discovered the heliocentric nature of our solar system.

Oh yeah - he also restored the Roman Empire officially and became to be known as Augustus for this feat sporting a trendy golden laurel.
20190217223536_1.jpg

But this is not all... In his pursuit of the wisdom of the ancients he went further than anyone else.. After delving into the ancient faith of the Hellenes and Romans he found it to be one much more fitting for his newly achieved status and altogether lifestyle and politics. Not being much of a religious man, but more of scholar, he reformed the faith with respect to the doctrines of the past, but modifying it slightly to be able to combat the worldviews of this new age:

And thus concludes the story of Pontifex Maximus Bayezid "The Glorious" of the Roman Empire for now... But who knows what the future will bring...

Hey thanks for posting this. I'm planning on doing something similar. I already have most of HRE under my control now on to ERE.

I see you didn't have to change your culture for any of this; I thought for sure you had to be Greek/Italian. Good to know.

I did. I just didn't mention it. I actually didn't get the event to convert to Hellenism after restoring the Roman Empire because I was Turkish. So I had to manually convert to Greek via a province, did the intrigue menu decision to convert to Hellenism and then I also embraced the Roman renaissance.
Also of note is the fact that I do NOT have the imperial government, which is great as the civilized doctrine gives me access to heir nomination. So no pesky vassals to say anything into inheritance. This is because I settled in the Byzantine empire after subjugating it as a nomad, but on the other hand it also nullified all viceroyalty laws, so all vassals are normal feudal ones and you have to unlock the viceroyalty laws the usual way.
