((Would you like to be kept on as a candidate member of the Politburo?))

Comrades,

This business with Comrade Hrynko is very troubling. Comrade Yagoda, such extra-legal actions cannot be condoned, and I hope the offending agent is dealt with very severely. Comrade Sokolov, you are authorized to prepare a press release ((update)) regarding this terrible tragedy for international consumption.

We need a replacement for the People's Commissar of Finance, so I am awaiting nominations. I shall deliver my report on the events of the second half of 1936 ((the update)) later this afternoon.

Stalin

((Certainly not what I expected ! Dadarian, I do hope you decide to return with a new character; you've been a dynamite player and I wish you the best of luck!))

((Yes please, I will enter as a new character soon, he will be afk though until I sort stuff out. Thanks for the support btw))

Comrades of the Supreme Soviet,

Although I am happy the soil of our Great Union has been purged of another traitor, the way it finally happened is not to my liking. As far as we can determine, the late Comrade Hrynko's involvement in the plot was superficial at most and an execution overshoots the proper punishment by a margin.

Now, however, we have a vacant spot in the Politburo, and it is time to move on and select a new Narkomfin. Our Comrade First Secretary of the Kazakh SSR, V.M.Sakharov, has recently returned to Moscow. With his judgement in this last process, he has shown that he would be a fair colleague of us. His competence has already been proven by his excellent management of the Kazakh SSR. Therefore, I'd like to nominate Comrade Sakharov to fill the open position.

- Feodor Vasilevich Sokolov, People's Commissar for Justice

((
The evidence is a "chat", the rest is not evidence. There are observations of what Hrynko or somebody else may have done.
Good to see someone noticed my way out. If the proof were to be watertight, nobody could realistically vote "no". And, for IRL reasons, that is not desirable.

It is also my belief that the punishments listed are the minimums. This is not America comrades. "Proof" beyond a reasonable doubt is not a requirement. We have shot many criminals on less evidence.
NK Yagoda
I already have my next character picked out for when/if I get purged lol.
Good to know, son of liberty.... Good to know.

(I Dinna mind, it's a game.))
For the weak souls amongst us; I did sort of check this with Dadarian beforehand.
I do hope we'll see you back soon, Dadarian. Jump back in at any time and I'll be glad to provide you with a summary.

Would you mind writing a bit about it?

((Any future updates regarding "actions" by NKVD operatives really should at least be mentioned to me OOC first; before they get published. It should be the same with any actions taken by any group where one of us has a portfolio. ))

General Secretary, comrades of the Politburo. While some evidence has come to light accusing NKVD operatives of imposing extra-judicial punishment on Comrade Hrynko, it is a lie; a fabrication. The NKVD had no need to take such actions, in fact orders were given to the contrary. He was not to be touched until the Politburo had made our decision regarding his fate. The investigation into who actually carried out the actions is underway. Comrade Sokolov, if your ministry also plans an investigation I will have our investigators cooperate with yours. This would be a bad precedent to set comrades. No single politburo member should have the authority to execute another voting member without assent of the majority of the politburo.

While I do not oppose the nomination of Comrade Sakharov, I would like to hear a statement from him and any other nominees concerning their views on how to run their departments along with their overall goals.
NK Yagoda

Comrade Sokolov,

As you know, our reports from the Politburo are not for public consumption. We need something for the capitalist West to show that everything was done with the accordance of international law. ((I won't be updating for an hour or so, so if you'd like to get your press release out first, please do, if you have time. If not, I'll simply make note that a press release is coming afterwards.))

Comrades,

We have one endorsement for Narkomfin, Comrade Sakharov ((Vrael_1492)) from Comrade Sokolov. If you wish to make additional nominations, please do so by Sunday at 10 PM (-6 GMT).

Stalin

Comrade Sokolov,

As Commissar of Communications and a former propaganda specialist I would like to offer my advice on your press release. You can see what I advised the radio stations to report here. As terrible as it may seem, since we do not know all of the facts, I feel that it is necessary to implicate Hrynko of the crimes we investigated him for. He was killed by NKVD agents (as much as they will publicly deny the fact) and we must spin that so this doesn't look like we are suppressing dissenters and murdering our own people. It will be better for the state if he died a fleeing traitor who was shot while resisting arrest, rather than an innocent man murdered by government thugs for disagreeing. If you decide that this isn't the way you wish to proceed I will adjust the orders I have provided the radio stations, but I strongly recommend this course of action.

- People's Commissar for Communication, Viktor Glazkov

((Bloody hell! I go out on a Saturday night in Australia and wake up to this! What did I have to drink last night?

In the words of Captain Reynaud, it should either be suicide or killed while trying to escape. Maybe both?!))

I am honored to be pointed out for such a position by Comrade NK Sokolov. If the other Kommisars agree, I would be delighted to work as NarKomFin for the glorious United Soviet Socialist Republics. I hope I will prove myself worthy of the trust.

Name: Arseny Grigoryevich Zverev
Born: February 1900
Job: District Chairman, Moscow
Bio: Born to a poor family, he had worked in two differing factories until he joined the Bolsheviks and the Red Army in 1919. He rose to the rank of cavalry platoon commander before being demobilized in 1922. He has worked in the Finance Department, being the Taxmaster of the Smolensk Oblast and the Head of the Finance Department for the Bryansk Oblast before taking a seat as District Chairman of the city of Moscow. Due to recent investigations within the Finance Department of the Politburo, he has been seen by a few as a new star of the Finance Ministry.

((This my new character, but I can't do anything more right now, so he'll just be in waiting until I'm able to come back.

Oh and sonofliberty, sorry for the NKVD thing, I just kinda needed to kill off my character right quick, that was not courteous of me, I apologize))

Comrades,

I am formally opening up our Politburo meeting for 1 January 1937. ((Update is posted in the update thread.)) We shall begin with appointing a new Narkomfin. Comrade Sokolov has announced his support for Comrade Sakharov; do we have any others?

Comrade, should you get the promotion what would your plans entail for the future of the motherland?

So, comrade Sokolov persecuted Hrynko, fed his paranoia to commit to a series of irrational acts and before Hrynko is even buried, proposes someone else to take his seat. Fascinating turn of events.

Once I hear Sakharov's plans, which I would love to do so, I'll give my opinion on him.

Comrades, I'm glad to hear that our supply problems have been fixed, however, I am upset that Republican Spain fell, and the enemy of the proletariat that is named Francisco Franco now runs the country. I propose we /immediately/ issue a trade embargo against Nationalist Spain.

Signed,

Gey downs his glass of vodka, and immediatly tops it back up.

Well Hrynko's dead, and that's that solved. I will withold on nominating or sponsering anyone, until they express a desire to be nominated.

Dear Comrade General Secretary

Firstly, I wish to express my gratitude to the State for the promotion to Lieutenant General. I am pleased to merely serve the State as best I can and seek no reward for my labours other than the advancement of the Socialist cause.

However, I am concerned that certain matters may have been overlooked in all of the unpleasantness of the recent demise of the late Comrade Hrynko. I have sent a motorcycle courier with an urgent message to be hand delivered to yourself personally regarding the latest update as at 1/I/1937. I have also sent a copy to Comrade NK Rakobolskaja, in case she is not with you when you receive my note. Could you please turn your attention to my concerns as a matter of urgency.

Your fraternally

Comrade Petrova,

Once budgets have been settled, you may certainly propose exactly that. Comrade Yakushev may submit his proposal whenever he likes; we do not need to wait for a new Narkomfin for that.
