Unfortunately, with the current evidence I can not technically charge Hrynko for high treason. I have no doubt he commited this crime, but as of now I am restrained to demanding the maximum penalty for conspiracy and corruption.

Also, members of the Politburo, consider this a reminder that you will have to officially endorse the indictment. Assuming that Comrade Gey votes in favor, that brings us to 2 votes in favor and 0 votes against. I highly recommend Hrynko to confess his crimes and plead guilty.

Very well Comrade, I understand the legal restrictions that are upon you.

In any case, I formally vote in favour of the indictment of Comrade Hyrnko. A question, will Hyrnko's vote be discounted as he is the man on trial? It would be rather confusing if the man could vote for his own innocence, and change the end result.

Although I have no doubts about the investigative skills of my superior or the Commissariat of Justice, I urge that we exercise caution and allow Commissar Hyrnko the chance to explain himself or confess before votes are cast. Is it not better for the defendant to confess of their own free will and resign than to disgrace the Politburo by forcing their removal?
I apologise for my ongoing absences. Matters have gotten ugly within my bureau given the possibility of Counter-Revolutionary infiltration and I am taking the time to personally sort the matter out and punish those who require it.

It is most disturbing that a man with such a position would betray the Motherland. This is treason on many levels; fraternizing with rebels, making deals with them, undermining the Red Army, stealing from the Motherland. Such treasons can not go unpunished, and I urge everyone to follow up on this evidence. I will await Hrynko's defense, but if he is found guilty, remember this is high treason; do not give a too mild punishment. That will only encourage further treasons since they know the punishment will not be overly strict.

I do not support these accusations. The man is corrupt up to his ears, I wish to see him paying for his crimes against the Motherland and her people, against the workers, the peasants and everybody who has been working hard so he and his friends can get filthy rich.

This case is a joke and I will not be a part of it. I told you that if you have to make a case against him it better be water-tight... This is as if trying to charge a murder for his traffic violation or perhaps not paying a tax? It is absolutely ridiculous.

If you can get the evidence to support this man's despicable crimes and propose a proper punishment, then I will gladly support you. Until them I suggest you stop wasting our time.

The evidence can be viewed here Comrade. It seems clear enough to me that Comrade Hrynko has abused his powers, and has sponsored counter-revolutionary activities. The accussations against Comrade Hrynko are just, and all we require now is for the man himself to either admit his guilt, or to proclaim his supposed innocence.

I am not proposing he should not be punished, I am proposing he should be punished for the right crimes, and punished permanently. Even the prosecutor agrees with me. If they had something more he would have proposed a higher penalty... but for this? 6 months on a country jail... Unacceptable.

The areas where the crime has been committed, and indeed the way the crime has been committed, indicate that Comrade Hrynko is in some shape or form responsible. If not for corruption and conspiracy, which I feel the captured conversation between the accussed and noted counter-revolutionary agents covers adequatly, then he is definitly guilty of negligence and incompetence. If he was not directly responsible for the activities carried out against the Soviet Union, then he is at least guilty of giving the perpetrators the means to carry out such crimes.

Ah, now I understand. No, you are right to be concerend about the sentence, however as far as I am aware of that sentence is the minimum. Heh, I can never tell if a person is sarcastic in their speech or not. Hyrnko will be punished justly for the crimes he has committed.

It is also my belief that the punishments listed are the minimums. This is not America comrades. "Proof" beyond a reasonable doubt is not a requirement. We have shot many criminals on less evidence.

In light if this development, I have had my assistant pull all available information on Hrynko's communications. Though we cannot find any information specifically regarding treason in the telegraph or mail records*, we have found that Comrade Hrynko has been receiving large sums of money on a monthly basis from somewhere in the Ukraine. I should note that communication networks in the Ukranie were horribly handled by my predecessor and therefore specifics on communications coming out of the area are sparse.
At any rate, it is clear that this money was coming from dealings which can be considered shady at best, treasonous at worst. I want to extend an offer to the People's Commissar of Justice and the NKVD to come and view the records if they feel it is necessary.

*We are of the opinion that if anything of the sort occurred it was done in person or via private courier

All radio stations are to report the following:

"We have been informed that Commissar of Finance, Hryhoriy Fedorovych Hrynko, has died. Hyrnko was under investigation for the crime of committing treason against the USSR and her peoples. With evidence mounting against him he attempted to flee the country, only to stopped by government agents who attempted to arrest him. Upon being stopped, Hrynko drew a gun on the agents and fired several shots, forcing the agents to shoot him. He was quickly transported to a local hospital where, after hours of surgery, he eventually succumbed to his wounds. On his body were records containing proof of his treason against the the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Investigations into possible accomplices are being conducted presently. A new Commissar of Finance is expected to be selected soon."
