I would like the addition of the
tu'i tonga empire which had existed in the 1444
perhaps a mod would be nice or added to the base game (but I honestly doubt that) so I would like it to control several pacific islands for it to be animist and deposit monarchy and maybe south american tech? I am not sure about that it would have Polynesian culture which would honestly mean a pretty boring game which could be the reason it isn't implemented ... so devs if you want to add something in for fun go ahead do this i guess

South American tech would make it primitive, which means the devs would have to add a way for primitives to build boats and explore the oceans. If canoes become a thing in EU4, that would be great news for the American tribes as well.

Actually, there's some speculation that the 'primitive' Polynesians did get all the way to South America. For instance, they got hold of sweet potatoes centuries before any Europeans had ever heard of them.

If I were to put pacific island countries on the map, here's what I would do:

-Tonga Empire- have it be a country 'Tonga' and the other islands are vassals so that the empire can fall apart if, say Fiji, feels like breaking free or whatever.

-Maybe the weaker tribes can still be colonizable provinces, but you got to keep the AI from colonizing Australia every game somehow. Perhaps have no colonists in their national ideas and weigh the AI from taking exploration and expansion. Just have the pacific countries already know where everybody else is or give them just explorers and conquistadors in their NI, so if they want to expand they have to fight someone.

-Needless to say, they would also need transports and maybe light ships.

-Stunt tech growth- They need to stay low tech until contact with outsiders. But places like Hawaii and New Zealand adapted really quickly to foreigners and their guns. So somehow this needs to be balanced. Look at the wars in New Zealand and how the potato and sweet potato encouraged growth and slavery wars to become stronger. Also how they used guns and forts to counter European tactics.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musket_Wars
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_Wars

Speaking of which, Hawaii had a feudal society and not a tribal one (I theorize that it was because invaders came in Hawaii's past and set themselves up as the ruling castes over the people already there). So they should have the feudal monarchy government. And until king Kamehameha united the islands it was actually a collection of Feudal kingdoms.

The Pacific is sorely overlooked in EU4, and most mods :-/ An expansion focussed on the area would be most appreciated, and would provide an opportunity to look at and incorporate mechanics to enhance tribal nations' gameplay more generally; Incompetent's idea for canoes, for instance.

One issue is trade goods. If countries are added to these regions than their resources would be set at the beginning of the game. And realistically they wouldn't have coffee in Hawaii or whatever in 1444. I would assume there would be a lot of fish. A possible solution is that after a certain date or some other trigger, you are given the option to remove the current trade goods in your country, and then the '?' can become all new trade goods allowing you a chance to get better stuff via trade with outsiders. Similar to abolishing slavery.

Possibly, but the region's own trade goods - whales, precious stones, etc. - could also be used. Whales as a resource would be good for EU4 generally. They were pretty valuable!

There are allready events in the game that change the trade good your province produces. In fact, just a few days ago in my Aragon game one of my Peru provinces switched from wool to coffe.

yeah thats an issue maybe a half primitive were boats are avaliable but otherwise primitive
