In practise, you are wrong. CET is affected by summer time and is thus GMT+1:00 in winter, GMT+2:00 in summer.Originally posted by Freiherr vStein
Technically speaking he is right, CET is always one hour behind GMT.[/B]
Yes, exactly that is the problem. With CET/CEST the incorrect usage is the standard. It's still just as incorrect as calling normal time "winter time".Originally posted by Peter Ebbesen

(Well, technically speaking, CET ought to be fixed at +1:00 with CEST at +2:00. That, however, is not the case, or rather, everybody says CET instead of CEST which means that for all practical purposes the difference is void)
EDIT: Link to TimeZoneConverter. Notice how CET is affected by summer time.

I think it would be good if the game started a bit earlier, we'd get more american participants, say begin like 6-7am GMT? thats 7-8 british time and 8-9 CET

6-7am GMT, for us americans, is 1-2am... While earlier than 9am GMT (4 am here), I think I'd better be able to play, waking up at 3:30 for the game at 4 rather than getting no sleep and running the game from 1am til whenever just being dead tired halfway through it. But either way, it won't be hard to convince my body to let me be awake at that time![]()
