I am the UK, it's late '41 and Germany is pwning the USSR. I want to help them. I tried in the Trade screen to make a manual trade of some supplies and money to the USSR but the OK button is greyed out. Any pointers on what I need to do?

Also, is it worth trying to send an expeditionary force? Will the USSR accept it? Will it do any good?

The game has been resonably historical so far, and I don't want the USSR to go under. I have only played a few games so far but it seems that the USSR has no chance to stand up to the Germans. Is there any other way to help them?

1) The nature of the problem - are things as bad as you think? Things were looking pretty grim, especially from the outside, there in late 41.

2) If things are going historical - keep to the Trend ie, what about the 'soft underbelly'? Are you at war against Italy? Is there a 'way in' through the Balkans?

Often people look for fast solutions such as air campaigns against the Reich - however these can be rather expensive for a lone Britain - look for more longer term 'structural' solutions - if that is BP does not look like firing before mid '42

Just a few ideas anyway...

You could try bombing some major IC centres, either unescorted from UK or take Norway, build some airbases and then escorted flights.

Logistical strike along some routes could also do wonders.

I loaded a recent save game as the USSR so I could get an idea of what is happening. (I don't consider this a cheat as the UK would have had information on where the main fighting was and the approximate scale of the armies involved, not just visibility of provinces changing hands, as the FOW allows.)

The USSR has only about 40 divisions left, Moscow has gone and the Caucasus oil regions will go soon. The Germans had huge stacks everywhere.

I am fighting Italy in north Africa but they have about 30 divisions there and it is slow going. This is another thing I find frustrating - I have sunk most of the Italian navy, and have large fleets carrying out naval interdiction and convoy attacks in all the sea areas adjacent to Italian-held provinces in north Africa, yet I still cannot stop the supplies reaching their armies. I occasionally get a message about 'sighting a strongly escorted convoy', but as I usually have 5BBs, a load of SSs and a couple of CVs in that sea area at the time, I don't understand how they can get through!

I am frantically building up my forces in NW India as I assume Germany will attack through Persia soon.

I already have a bombing campaign going against Germany, but they seem to have an army of several hundred divisions plus a fleet of 3BBs and 2CVs plus smaller ships.

I did a raid on Dunkerque but several divisions jumped straight on me, even with a large army involved in Russia.

If I try to invade Italy I will lose Suez pretty quickly I think, the Italian AI is quite aggressive and their army in Libya is big.

I was thinking more about getting the USSR money and supplies, but as I said the trade screen won't let me. Any ideas why?

Is the idea of lending the USSR some units a bad one, or will they use them well?

I dunno, it seems to me if they only have 40 divisions left, USSR is done. On the other hand, it seems like it will be a fun and challenging game as UK. Just dont let them across the Channel!
