They change the biome distributions. For example a capital world will have lots of Ruins and Landmarks, while an Infested World has a lot of Fungus and Xenoplague units everywhere.

Apart from that i am not sure. I do have a mission to find the 'source of infection' on the Infested world im playing but unsure what that does.

They do seem to change the expanded options in the scenario but I'm wondering if they are anything else but presets.
In other words: Do they provide anything that you couldn't achieve yourself by just messing with the options?

Hey Ethorin, I'm not gonna tell you what you should do. Iirc the only unique things are the Quest and it's location and the increased Xenoplague spawns. (Don't quote me on that though) What you could do is find somebody with the Infested World scenario and set up a Multiplayer session. That way you can basically demo it and see whether it is worth the price.

I think I'll stick it on my wishlist and hold out for now... I'll prolly grab it at some point when money is less "am I going to be able to get these DLC at a reasonable time" but for now Imma just let it sit.

That's perfectly fine, just remember that for Multiplayer you don't need to have the DLC as long as the host has it. So if you ever feel like giving it a shot, you'd just need to find the right people. :)

...I don't play multiplayer alot in these games... I tend to play with cheats right now because I have one big issue with 4X games... there are SO MANY toys and I just wanna play with them all. in AoW3 I'd use the extraordinary builder mod and sit on my one city for ages as I stacked massive amounts of special rule granting mystical city upgrades so I could witness the most overpowered BS I could put together...

god I hope a mod like that happens soonish.

that said... I love Static Buildup... so much.(hello forty damage Sniper... I thought Hidden were OP, then I found Syndicate)

wait, how do I get jetpacks on assembly? Jetpack SCAVENGERS, their only problem in my current experience is living to get into melee but Jetpacks fix that! Assembly Lightbringers kind of work like that but them having 0 ranged options makes it really annoying to handle air. also do you know why Assembly Echo Walkers lose two damage when no other Assembly secret tech melee loses damage for having assimilate?

You could get a vanguard to join your empire and then research up to the relevant tech. There is also a pickup that gives it, though I think that's a hero item.

Edit: Not sure on the Echo Walker thing, I'd need to have a look when I'm back in the office on Monday.
