First of all: Please excuse my bad english.

Wouldn`t be more realistic, that you could research truck brigades instead of motorized divisions. You could attach the brigade to normal infantry (or marine infantry).

Advantage: You are able to improve all infantry you ever bilt to "motorized invantry".

I would like to see something similar. Something like an option to upgrade a infantry division to motorised. You will have to spent some IC on it, and after a while to division gets motorised. To first delete a division and then make a motorised division isnt very cost effective and the guns stay the same. But you will have to move your divison to your homeland to fit them with trucks.

Removing mot. div. are bad idea, but idea of creating new brigade - trucks, ale cool, and ability to upgrade infantry to mot./mech./arm./mout... etc. are realy many times wanted.
And very nice if impleted.

Why not just create a button that will let you motorise the infantry you have. Like next to the B+ (add brigade) button, there could be a motorise button which appears once you have researched the right tech (like "1943 Foot infantry motorisation" or something). They would go into the upgrading queue, and you would pay the IC-days difference that motorised and normal infantry currently have in your game :)

You could maybe mod this in yourself, though. Just change some brigade you don't use into an infantry-only brigade that gives them, say, +5 speed and costs as much as the difference between inf and mot is. :p

I wouldn't mind seeing Mot/Mech as brigades instead of separate units. That way you could upgrade a standard leg infantry to be motorised or mechanised (at least GER did that with many of their infantry divisions) without making any big changes in the game interface.

Downside would be that you couldn't fit any other brigades to them, but that's a price I'm ready to pay.

There's no need to remove motorized infantry from the building queue, neither to add a truck brigade...

All we need is, pretty much like HJV said, the ability to change ordinary infantry divisions to motorized ones. And from motorized, perhaps to even mechanized. That would be historically accurate, and make things less silly...

The British army, for instance: in '39 scenario their army is completely leg
infantry.
In Awakening the Giant, some of those divisions are suddenly motorized, some aren't.
In '44, they're ALL motorized infantry.
This represents the transformation of the army from foot/horse drawn to truck/halftrack-based, the divisions have same names (50th Higlanders are 50th Highlanders in 1939 as Infantry and in 1944 as Motorized Infantry) and with respective experience, all good, but when actually PLAYED through those years this just can't be done!

Another good example is the 5th Waffen-SS, Wiking. When building Motorized Infantry, that name pops up. Of course, it was formed as such. But if you build Mechanized Infantry, you come up with ANOTHER Wiking! Yes, true, in '43 Wiking was reformed to be the 5th W-SS Panzergrenadierdivision. And then, with armoured divisions... you guessed it! In late '44 Wiking was indeed given a whole armoured regiment, and it was named as the 5th SS-Panzerdivision.
I have had all three Wikings in the same battle, and it made me to beat my head to the keyboard in powerless frustration. Changing names felt like cheating.

Just keep it possible to

1.Build infantry Divisions,

2.Build Cavalry Divisions,

3.Build Motorized Divisions,

4.Build Mechanized Divisions,

bul for the unexistingdeity's sake MAKE IT POSSIBLE to

5.Upgrade Infantry Divisions to Motorized Divisions,

6.Upgrade Infantry Divisions to Mechanized Divisions,

7.Upgrade Motorized Divisions to Mechanized Divisions,

8.Cavalry Divisions to Motorized Divisions (I truly can't understand why on Earth isn't this featured in the game already!)

9.Cavalry Divisions to Mechanized Divisions

and perhaps even Motorized and Mechanized (or only the Mec) Divisions to Armoured Divisions.

This would allow things go smoothly, intelligently and historically accurately. Divisions would keep their experience and names, and use less time in upgrading than disbanding+building from scratch needs.

8.Cavalry Divisions to Motorized Divisions (I truly can't understand why on Earth isn't this featured in the game already!)
Maybe because some people don't want their cavalry to be upgraded to motorized automatically?
I somehow doubt it is possible to introduce two possible upgrades in the game, though I'd really love to see an option to upgrade infantry and cav to mot, and mot to mec (especially since there are only minor differences IRL)
Maybe it is possible to have cavalry upgrade automatically to motorized, but have the "do not upgrade" button activated as soon as the unit is semi-motorized cavalry? This way, only those units would be upgraded that you manually select. I have no idea how to handle infantry and motorized, however, since the the last model here is '51...

I agree. I'd love to upgrade my Cav and Inf to Mot. Nations (particularly minors) that don't want to upgrade to Mot shouldn't research it.

We know they do it for Armor, it would just need a new button "upgrade to Mot" for Inf and "Upgrade to Mech" for Mot. And probably a new AI command "upgrade_to_mot" that defaults to no to keep Minors from doing so.

Would probably cause some problems for the AI though. Perhaps "upgrade_to_mot" could be a % instead of a yes/no. "What % of your infantry should be Motorized? .00 to 1.00?"

How about upgrading a motorized infantry to a armor division? 90percent of an armor division is motorized infantry, so basicly ud just add the tanks, but i agree with the whole concept it would give a better flow of upgrading ur army instead of building a new one concept.

Somewhere you've got to make a point. I know that IRL, some infantry divisions were converted to armoured divs, but in-game you've got to abstract things. If you go that far, players won't have to think about what they're building that much. They'd just convert some infantry to tanks when they need them.

what do u think they did in real life? Specially trained 90percent of the socalled armor division to cooperate specially with armors, they just build the armor and matched them up with equvilant motorized infantry.

or split it up so u split a armor divisions into a infantry divisions (normal) and a armor division with max 1 life, which u could station somewhere safe, when not moving it doesnt consume oil and then u can later merge it with an motorized infantry division again to create a full strength armor division.

What if that kind of upgrading (style change) would happen in the productions queue? A bit like hoi1 style and nothing automatic...
