I wouldn't mind longer truces, but it's not really realistic either. However, I'd rather have longer truces, but be able to add more war goals. I would not be happy with a system in which you can take so little land and also have long truces.

I really think, and had make this suggestion many times, that we should have variable lenght for a truce, depending on the states of the two character fighting. If the winner is still pretty strong, he wouldn't have to endure 5 years of truce. And if it is the contrary (the winner has almost nothing to defend himself, but the "loser" may be in a difficult situation anyway), the truce could be longer. Some truces were of only few months, others went a long time, in reality.

But it's not like a truce could not be broken. A really powerful king with lots of prestige could break it without a problem. The only thing is that if the AI did that a lot of people would come on thses forums and cry about it.

It's not the prestige loss you should be afraid of, it's the opinion hit. -25 with every ruler that shares the religion of the one attacked. Sure makes me respect truces with fellow christians. Not so much muslims, they're gonna hate anyway.

The AI should brake truces if it's a good move for it. Even if it maimed the player's game totally.

That may seem a lot but fellow christians need claims on you, so it's not going to be like the badboy wars in EU3. And how long will the negative modifier last? Also remember that rulers change all the time.
