Uninstalled DD, reinstalled DD, installed 1.2 patch, installed the .9 exe to the Paradox Interactive/Doomsday folder, and then unRARed .91 to the same folder. Started the game, saw the movie but pressed escape to skip and I get an error with the options "Abort / Retry / Ignore" (all options lead to CTD). What did I do wrong?

Its probably trying to run in window mode. You can either go into the Icon and look at the properties and remove the word WINDOWED or you can set your video to 16 bit colors.

The former worked! It's quite a lovely map with all these new urban and mountain provines to be fought over. Unfortunately another problem cropped up, although I don't know if it's fixable or not - when I tried to exit the game and clicked "EXIT" (or is it QUIT? SURRENDER?) it hung there with the music still playing and map still movable in the background; I had to alt-ctrl-del.

I've a question, but please bear that I'm not aware of the full intricacies of TRP economics. The context is a multiplayer one-on-one (we'd all love more players, but scheduling is a nightmare and a hassle unless you don't have a job or school).

With the US having such a tremendous amount of IC, would any one on one multiplayer game where one player was the USA result in a pre-determined, if lengthy and bloody automatic win for the USA player? Can a human GER actually successfully fend off a human US during or post-Barbarossa? The IC disparity, it looks, would only begin to balance out if GER conquered the entirety of Europe and the USSR and/or Britain.
