Very good. I'm playing my first game as the Kwantang Army (spelled wrong, I know :eek:o) to get a handle on how TRP works. So far so good, but I thought some of the IC choices were weird. This is probably just my misunderstanding but I thought it was odd how countries such as Ecuador had 1 IC (same as Bhutan/Oman) but Peru 5, and then Chile and Bolivia having 5 (IIRC Chile was fairly industrialized) and Paraguay having 1 (even though it beat Bolivia in a war a few years before the game start).

It is a bit slow and laggy though, any way to make it go faster?

Can somebody tell me how to do that spire thing again that makes it fast?

Delete/rename the gfx\map\units-folder. When you start the game it will complain about not finding any sprites, but if you choose "ignore" the game will load just as it should.

This is a question for Lothos really:
Having read the SuperIA thread and the news on the TRP project, i wonder if Germany, after successful Barbarossa and Sealion (if they do work?), plans for an invasion of the US? And for that matter, if the human player is Germany, does the US switch AI files in case it is invaded? Usually they send almost every unit abroad, and if the US is nivaded, it's a cakewalk. I hope there is some kind of switch in it :)

German AI does not have any AI files to make it invade the USA, guess I should do that at some time.

USA does have a homeland AI file but I have never had a saved game to test it to see how it works out.

I would really like to see that, especially since the AI sits WW2 out if Britain and USSR are defeated. While this might be realistic, due to the lack of a strong surface fleet, but "island hopping" from UK, Iceland, Greenland, New Foundland should be reasonably doable, especially with aircover with CAs, DDs and so on and TPs only.

Only my 2 cents, but would make the game much fun.

One option might be for Germany to prepare for strategic warfare against USA. Developing of long-range missiles and acquiring bases closer to North America and then trying to rain destruction on USA in the hopes of bombing it into negotiations, possibly with developing "Ural bomber" despite demise of Wever. Hitler seemed to have aversion about sea invasions and such SW move would surely have pleased him. It could be like second battle of Britain fought with newer weapon types and systems. And of course USA should be trying to counter such German moves by capturing German forward bases even if full-scale invasion of Europe would fail. Might be quite hard to mod, though.

Invasion of US would very nice for AI to try but I think it should fail almost every single time. And after such failure there might still be some standstill from AI point of view unless some backup plan was available (like SW campaign).

I just have not gotten that far yet, this stuff takes time and is not as easy as one would think. I am well aware of what needs to be done when it comes to a longer term strategy.

Good to hear that you have given some serious thought for it already. I'm just tossing some ideas up so no pressure to you was certainly meant by me. May I ask what kind of longer term strategies have you thought about (like a spoiler for possibly distant future release)?

I'm having kind of a wierd game with 91.1. Japan has declared war on me (USA) via some strange "TEST" event. Then, the events which are supposed to give me the ability to build troops refused to fire, so I did it myself. Then Japan pulled 99.9% of its forces to the mainland and left pretty much all their islands undefended. Plus it's about mid-1942, and the Soviets seemingly have a very low number of troops compared to the Germans.

Is it okay to post some save games here or send them via emai so someone can take a look at them? I have one just before Japan declares war (nov 1941) and a current one which shows the strange Pacific war situation.

Question Lothos, do u have the strike north strike south event in the mod for japan?

Since I wrote the original ones, ofcourse :)

As for the gentleman asking to send me a saved game of Japan, no need I already fixed that issue.

Much thanks i will meet Germany in the middle, another question though are there events that once u take Siberia as Japan the area starts getting resources like there was historically?

also are there events to compliment the strike north choice?

Event 3188003 (Vichy about to get annexed by Germany) is broken. If Germany chooses to accept Franco's Porposal (option B in 3136165) some of the provinces in the trigger for 3188003 will be owned by Spain, thus triggering the event in question. This problem also arises if said provinces are lost by Vichy and then retaken by an ally.

TRP 90.2--5 stars

I recently installed TRP, and have been very impressed with it. I'm playing a USSR game as of right now and am quite happy to see the Germans doing well, there army is very similar to what it was historically, as is mine, he has 100ish divisions lined up for Barbarossa, and 2-4 divisions guarding against any D-Day, as well as a 50 squadron airforce. Everything has gone smoothly, and historically so far, and it is june 2 41'.

The new combat system is wonderfully realistic, as most of the time spent in a campaign is used fighting and not just moving from Provence to Provence between 2 hour battles like it is in vanilla(I especally like the difficulty in performing encirclements).

The TRP tech tree makes me want to cry with joy, as it gives far more realism then the original, I especially like the different techs being linked and dependent on each other to a far greater extent then the origanal,
for example to continue researching tank destroyers, you have to first research new AT guns.

All in all the game is hard, and for all the right reasons.

I just ran a handsoff game this night with TRP 90.2 (the latest, iirc). During 1941 and 1945 i slept, so i cannot really report :D. Up til 1941 everything went historically, as far as i can see. German butchered france and benelux, and prepared for Barbarossa. Kwangtung Army was making their way in China, slowly, but steadily. The Japan dows the US and awakens the monster which is the US.

Fast forward to 1945: I have been able to see that Germany, up until Winter 1941, was marching straight to moscow, only a couple provinces short. Now this was reversed. In august 1945, Uncle Joe is knocking and ol' Hitlers bunker, only 1 province short of Berlin. The balkan minors have so far been turned over. the Red Army outnumbers the Wehrmacht 2:1. How the Wehrmacht lost so many men, i am not sure. Sadly i wasnt there ^^

Italy lost, as usual i must already say, in Africa. Japan did pretty well, holding on to most of their islands. Kwangtung almost annexed China, 1 province short. But the Americans invaded Taiwan with now 246 (!!!) divisions, and Japan is holding them off ith about 120 of their own. About 50 US divisions landed near Guangzhou, and Kwangtung is barely able to hold them off. So far only American Carrier have been sunk, but the US outnumbers Japan 33:9 carriers. But so far, it looks like Japan may well be able to hold on for at least 2 more years. Germany will be lost by spring 1946. Well, better record than real life. I saw no DDay happen, or at least no Americans there. But they may have driven them into the Channel again, not sure. But seeing that the US employs 300+ units in the pacific theatre, i dont see a reason why they would be able to field a large enough landing party... ^^

Anyway, good work on the mod, but i utterly dislike the menu and the graphics overall. A matter of taste i guess. Also: When in 1938, and i research 1939 stuff, i get HEAVILY penalized, yes? i researched the agricultural techs in 1938. It took me more than a year, as Germany, to reearch that, despit 3 out of 3 matches, and 9-6 level in tech teams. I was creeping at 0.2 points a day, and when approaching 1939, i was doing 0.6 and in 1939 was doing like 1.5 a day. Weird.

Ah, and another thing: The game was pretty laggy/choppy in 1936, but got smoother and smoother once in 1937. Strange. And, again, i dont why Windowed is not working. Did i do anything wrong? I took the .rar, emptied it into my copied version of DDA, then ran the .bat thingy, then made a shortcut, put WINDOWED behind it, started it. It goes all well, but in the scenario page i can neither select the scenario nor the saves i made. Weird, again.

A small treat for you guys: (and yes, i edited some of the menu graphics, alas not all)

Game Normal/Normal with 0.92 I play Switzerland to look AI.

September '41: everything went historical until that point.
But now GER AI does not attack SOV.

It is may be linked to the fact that more than 40 divisions are blocked in Greece. And this is may be due to the fact that Novi Pazar is now Roman province and blocks moves.
