ok, retryed and it does the same thing. after i reinstalled hoi2 and the patch.i downloaded trp 0.7 and installed it to the newly copied folder.

to copy i went to the start menu, clicked my computer, clicked folders and then clicked paradox game folder. i clicked copy and then clicked paste on the desktop. I then installed trp to Paradox Interacive 2, which is what i called it. when i clicked the trp icon it said the same thing: "Hoi2.exe not found!"

If anyone can help, again, id be greatful, again.

the thing is its not my email, its my dads. and he will not approve of me giving his email to someone else that he doesnt know. so if its not too much trouble can you describe to me, in VERY specific details what i need to do from the start. Example: click start at bottom left corner. click my computer. click folders at top. click local disk c. click program files etc etc.

and i dont mean von hausser only. i am also talking to you! the person who reads this thread and desides not to answer! yes you who is reading it now Help Me!

ok, i know what im asking for is alot, and you might not want to type that much. but please, please help me. just spare a little more time and energy and help me out. if you still dont want to type that much you can just describe to me a small process in details. ex: describe in large details what process i need to take to install it, and then another person can take off from there and describe the next, short process. please someone help me! just spare a little time and help me fix this thing.

Computer_Hacker, I'll give it a shot. From the sounds of it, looks like either your HOI2 Icon is pointing to the wrong directory or somehow a critical error has occurred with your HOI2 game. Please completely read the below instructions before doing this at home.

(Long Way) Below is the Uninstall Install Method.

Unless noted otherwise, whenever you see Click or Select that means Right Click (or Right Mouse Click)

First try uninstalling Total Realism Project. (I'm going to assume your using Windows XP)
1. Click on the start button.
2. Select "All Programs"
3. Select Total Realism Project
4. Select Uninstall

Now install HOI2
1. Click on the start button.
2. Select "All Programs"
3. Select Paradox Interactive
4. Select Hearts of Iron 2
5. Select Uninstall Hearts of Iron2

If you got any errors during the uninstall STOP and post what crashed and the message given by uninstall.

This assumes that you've uninstalled correctly.... Before we start installing look at you desk top. (That's the screen you first see when you turn on your computer.)

Do you see any Icon's for the HOI2 game? If yes, delete it.
(To delete it right click on the Icon and press the delete key)

Now get your HOI2 CD and install it (Use defaults; don't do anything fancy).

Now were going to copy the HOI2 Folder.
1. Click on the Start Button
2. Select on "My Computer" ("My Computer" could also be on the Desktop)
3. Select on the hard drive that the HOI2 folder is in (probably the C: drive)
4. Select Program Files
5. Select Paradox Interactive
6. LEFT CLICK Hearts of Iron2 then Select Copy
7. Now Right Click anywhere in the White Area (so that Heart of Iron 2 folder isn't blue anymore)
8. Now LEFT CLICK on the White Area and select Paste. (You should start seeing a new folder saying Copy of Hearts of Iron 2)
9. Close all windows except the Main one (only your desk top should be visible)

Changing the ICON: (BTW you may opt to try this first just to see if you ICON is point to the wrong directory)
1. LEFT CLICK on the Hearts of Iron 2 ICON and Select Properties
2. Where it saids Target make sure the directory is correct... In this example it should state:

"C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Copy of Hearts of Iron 2\hoi2.exe"

3. Where it saids Start In make sure the directory is correct... In this example it should state:

"C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Copy of Hearts of Iron 2"

4. Clck "OK"
5. Back on the Desk top DOUBLE CLICK on the HOI2 Icon and make sure it works.

Now install TRP, again nothing fancy but just make sure the directory you're installing it in is THE Original Hearts Of Iron 2 directory...
("C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron 2")

This should allow you to play the original Hearts of Iron 2 version and TRP... Happy Gaming!

sorry for posting so much, but dont blame it on me. its the problems that make me post, and im just looking for help.

very simple and quick problem which i think will be able to be solved quickly

trp works. i double click icon on desktop or in hio2 directory, click on tutorial or campaign. when i click on a nation this happens:

Critical Error!

--- ERROR: (Illegal Command Type)'type=free_ic' Line=61 file=scenarios\events\China_N\China_Nationalist.txt --- Do you still want to continue? That is not the only one that occurs. there are many and they vary.

i then click abort, ignore or retry and it shuts down. i tried to play as N. China, then italy, then germany. same thing happens.

simple problem, similar solution i think. We're nearing the end!
