I'm thinking of introducing two separate event chains, one for a british surrender before Barbarossa and one for afterwards. Currently, i'm rewriting the old "New Order East" - chains. I'll deal with "New Order West" next.

These chains haven't been thoroughly reviewed for years...that's why i decided to do it when we actually just wanted to add some minor details.

@Fabiusz: We want to keep elite units unbuildable. So, sorry, but i don't see unit type changes for elite units in the future. Concerning the next DH patch (1.04 final, i suppose), i just know that the devs are still working on it and implementing fixes and additions. But i don't have any clue when they're going to release it.

Lord Rommel, I'm about to start a new game with TRP; before starting game, there is a way I could manually insert missing lines about modern subs and the second heavy BB?

I also read that TRP team is working on New Order chains; I'd like to suggest something about UK in africa: even if Italy manages to annex Egypt and in the process to occupy also the British territories like Suez and Alexandria, after the NOW events they come back to UK just like Tunisia-Corsica to France and like Morocco occupied by Spain gets back to Paris.

Go to TRP\scenarios\1936\events\secret_weapon_events.txt

1) look for event 8022

edit action_a to look like this:

Code:
   action_a = {
     name = "ACTIONNAME3201A" # OK
     command = {  type = activate which = 7530 } # Heavy Battleship
     command = {  type = activate which = 7540 } # Heavy Battleship 1942
   }

2) look for event 8026

edit action_a to look like this:

Code:
   action_a = {
     name = "ACTIONNAME3201A" # OK
     command = {  type = activate which = 7560 } # Walther U-boat
     command = {  type = activate which = 3750 } # Submarine 1948
     command = {  type = activate which = 3770 } # Submarine 1954
     command = {  type = activate which = 3780 } # Submarine 1958
   }

Thx for the hint. We won't be able to take any possible outcome of the war into respect, but we'll try to create a scenario as error-proof as possible.

Thank you for the answers; another couple of"strange" things with NOW that I think may be interesting to check out are that UK gets back both Hong Kong and three or four other provinces in the Borneo from Japan together with retaining possession of the Azores (shouldn't they get back to Portugal once Great Britain is no more at war with the Axis?)

Again, compliments to you and all the other modders

copied from my little debate about 'War Weariness' with TRP guys elsewhere:

in WW2, people in Axis and Allied countries knew more what to expect, so there wasn't so great war weariness, but i may add, that 1) totalitarian countries with most horrific losses, USSR, Germany and Japan, had very harsh regimes with brainwashing propaganda, 2) Italian surrender to Allies was completely due to war weariness, revolts, food shortages, military defeats etc., 3) Great Britain alone had almost 900 000 (military) casualties in Great War, and terrible social and political consequences similar to French ones, so WW2 was not so cruel to them. 4) 'Murica, compared to the rest of Allies, had no war weariness. They had much greater population than Britain so they didn't have to conscript too many people and they have safe homeland far from frontlines. If they were forced to conscript much more men, 'Arsenal of Democracy' would surely suffer.

let bleed britain dry to force them to surrender? why not?

Well. Studti listed a couple of control mechanisms for TRP at the AAR thread. I want to add a different point of view; What should be the trigger moment for ENG to capitulate by
casualties? HoI II had no mechanism like HoI III with national unity. Casualties is a problem too because depending on army structure and combat history casualties will be generated too fast or too slow. The trigger had to split between a human ENG or an AI ENG and/or human GER or AI GER. You cant adjust parameters for such a situations. It is too difficult from my point of view.

Hm. Impressive list. But i have problems with all this "battle here" and "battle of X/Y/X" events because they are very specialized and need triggers and events. In TRP you should fought your own war so i think we wont implement this "battle like events". Nevertheless the list has one or two potential ideas and candidates for new events or even decisions. I will talk with Studti. At the moment i have to rework the hole red army guards divisions and i have to the add the british colonial army events. Studti is still working on this nightmare file called NOE ^^
Small team and a lot to do.

Nope. With the TRP AI it should be challenging to play TRP in general. We recommend to play with the big nations first because (USA and/or ENG for new players to "learn" how to play TRP) we are using a different combat system and an own AI. Allin all we recommend to play not with China because this is a difficult nation we had to rework or to adjust. At the moment China is optimised for AI gameplay only. But this is a special situation in TRP.

For more questions; feel free to ask.

I understand. My favourite is Japan.
I will try this game because I like historical games.
Playing Darkest Hour with small countries leads to a halt during mid-game, caused by manpower smaller growth rates (than the first HoI2 had). I assume this is the case here too? (Will see it anyway, when I play)

Manpower is limited. Nations like Japan have events for manpower mobilization. Big nations like Japan will have enough manpower for an impressive army and to reinforce this army during battles. Small nations need more management.

@Solfall: Plz note that we don't use much content from DH Full. Many aspects of the game, especially OOB and events, have been written according to our own research. So Norway in TRP already is different compared to DH Full. Nevertheless, we'll be glad to implement some of your findings if we can make them fit.

@Vlad_Dracul1989: Thx for your proposal. We'll have a look, but as Rommal already wrote, we don't have much manpower in our small team. If there's much translation work to be done (TRP may be played in both English and German), we might still have to prioritize other projects.

@Generalmotors: I think that it's even harder in TRP than in DH Full to play minor nations. Many of them just have 1 to 5 IC, thus just one tech team, and a tiny daily manpower growth. Even more, they also lack events. I strongly recommend to play TRP as a major nation (GER, SOV, JAP, USA, ENG) or as a large minor (ITA, FRA, CAN, ROM, AUS). You should chose small minors just as an exception if they're a historical part of some alliance from early on in the game (HUN, FIN, SAF, NZL).
