Just did overview of the game with Tibet on nofog. Watching the eastern front was thrilling. Germans took Leningrad and Moscow, but are now being beaten back. However, USA ai is horrible. Saw them keep sending loaded transports to invade Sicily, while their fleet stayed in port at Tunis. Need to get on that.

Yeah, the USA AI is one of our main concerns left with AI in general. I'll try to clean up the mess for 1.02.

Good to here you concern about USA ai. Anyway you can also modify the all the ai to do more naval invasions.

So -200 rel block against alliance with Germany?Simply change trigger.Germany cant invite Japan to axis and with +200 rel,right?

@anakin1390: It's especially the USA that's causing us trouble right now. We've told the AI to do invasions and to use the navy, but for some reason it's still way too passive. I've tried to get around this task for some time, but i suppose i'll have to review the US naval and invasion AI completely.

@Ericafaq: There's no event to trigger. More than a year ago, i had to implement a quick workaround against Spain joining the Axis, and i decided to use a bad relationship block. It worked back then for the AI, but i'm going to use an AI-switch based solution in the future.

First of all, would like to say the ai changes are great! to a certain degree in time... I played as Germany and pretty much ended up on a stalemate well short of Leningrad/moscow etc and the Soviets pushed me back to the polish borders where i some how managed to hold a defence line. the problem was for me i didnt realise that there woul;d be no more manpower events... I found that the soviets hardly attacked in non freezing seasons but during winter they got a massive advantage and this is when they puntured my lines until summer turned and i managed to encircle their progress and go back to the pre winter lines...

In the south USA/UK invaded sicily comfortably and southern italy. I managed to hold a line down there but once all of sicily was taken Italy collapses and the socialist nth get created... upon allying the socialist nth i encircled rome and anzio (or whatever the province is next to it). and was there was several years not being able to take it and the allies not being able to win any battles to advance....

The allies also made an invasion of greece/bulgaria but i managed to push them back to again another stalemate in the mountains...

OK well all i can say is all the breakthroughs the ai did i some how managed to control when it looked like i would face defeat...

The killer blow for the ai though was when i developed nukes in about 1946. For some reason the USA never build nukes but had the technology??? They and UK build V2 rockets which i was surprised to see as i have never seen the ai build this but unlike normal DH, USA never build nukes... So by about 1949 after many years of stalemate, i managed to nuke USA a whole lot of times which caused them to go into civil war with USA. I then managed to coup them creating the confederate states... Then california declares independance and declared war on the confederates... lol

So yeah great mod but what happened to the USA nukes? And just that I believe the ai cannot go on for the kill once they breakthrough. ( i understand it would be hard as it is only ai and not a human player).

So yeah great mod but what happened to the USA nukes?

I did a quick comparison between TRP and DHF files and found that we're lacking AI commands for building reactors. Most likely, they hadn't been implemented yet when work on TRP for HoI2 started back in 2006. I'm going to edit the files. Thx for the hint.

And just that I believe the ai cannot go on for the kill once they breakthrough. ( i understand it would be hard as it is only ai and not a human player).

Yeah, that's a basic AI problem, especially against a human player.

Few words after Germany game.

-airforce is very bad way to spend ic and fuel. I never use naval bombing missions vs ai so all I need are few fighters and maybe transport planes. AA brigades are quite powerful [btw non-mobile ones are using fuel is it a bug?] To be honest after border fights with soviets i didn't care about rebasing my airplanes from Poland Red Army Airforce did nothing to me [I had 1 AA brigade for every inf. corps]

-new combat system is working very well. HOI2 TRP one is better but i like your like ideas too. Especially low org hard units are great. 1 issue: mech divisions aren't worth their price. Panzer divisions cost "almost" the same and the got same attack/movement penalty in hard terrain. Mech div are "lighter" and should get those lowered.

-Elite units decisions are just outstanding.

-Too bad mod dont have all those events from hoi2 like "oddesa mobilizes for defense" etc" If player is experienced can easily beat USSR [If he done pre-war years right]. I done it with my first play and I made mistakes [like let massisve encirclement get supplied by see for few months] and it didnt affect my victory march.

-You guys saying USA ai need reworking? hmmm
After I beat USRR [year was 1943] big part of Wermaht forces were send to guard new german border, some were to germany, most were to Iran [i wanted to giveAI a chance].
I thought I will roll thought India and Afrika then invade uk/usa. I was wrong.
After hard hard fights my offensive stopped at suez canal guarded by 90 allied divisions. India was a deathtrap. I was forced to send all divisions from Russia to reinforce my attack. I took all north India and burma, but in south Allies had more than 250 divisions I was forced to withdrawal to save Europe where US stared to landing in 1945. I lost few Panzer Corps cut off by USA in Italy. 150 US div. landed there before I was ready to push them back to see [they still hold 1 city prov. with 100 div]. US also landed in Murmansk, Balkans, Palestine. UK Sharm el sheikh huge landing cutted my suez canal forces. All in the year 1945. Ohh did a mention that my ally Japan left axis and declared war? [Sadly this was bcs of bug in Fading Sun event. Japan had most of the Pacific, they just invaded Australia, and this event pop out without any reason {efter Bitter peace event Japan gained few Soviet far east provinces - New Zeeland landed in one of them just before this event fired.
Then USSR declared war. I was in HoI veteran heaven. :happy: Sadly Bitter peace event fired again. Ai cheked i have Baku Kuibyshev and Moscow and we had instant peace. I was so angry that I was stop playing this scenario. :mad:

Still, great mod guys. I appreciate all hard work you put into this project. I'll try GB/Japan next. If I find some bugs I let you know.

Strategic and infrastructure bombardment do have a significant effect, at least at daylight. IMHO they're worth some investment. We didn't want bombers to be able to annihilate divisions in just a few ground attacks in the early stages of the war, though.

Yeah, that's a bug. It seems as if we did a wrong export from our excel sheet. At the moment, AA and SPAA are exactly the same files except for the name.

We tried to create a combat system that's very much like the original TRP one while leading to more predictable and realistic results. The old system contained several exaggerations that effectively cut off some parts of the combat mechanics under several circumstances. You won't find those extreme modifiers in 1.01 any more. Moreover, we tried to make TRP much more multiplayer-proof. With TRP 1.00, just one german HQ unit was able to withstand an attack of more than 70 allied divisions in Belgium 1940 until reinforcements arrived...two days later!

Concerning mechanized divisions: They need less research and upgrade efforts than armored divisions do. That's why countries like Canada and Japan still might think about building some of them instead of tanks. In our test runs, they performed well especially against infantry units. We'll have a team talk about their costs and modifiers if we receive more reports about their bad cost-effectiveness.

Those events indeed are still in, but maybe our triggers need to be corrected. We'll have a look.

I'm happy to hear about the US efforts to invade. Maybe they just lack the capacities to to so in 1943 and 1944. You might have encountered some of them in India and Egypt, waiting there guarding beaches instead of invading.

This definately shouldn't happen. Do you still recall the event name(s)? What occupation policy did you chose?

Still, great mod guys. I appreciate all hard work you put into this project. I'll try GB/Japan next. If I find some bugs I let you know.
