I think that paradox should make the AI a little bit more aggresive and it should conduct it's aggresion better. i play my games at normal or difficult difficulty but with furious AI since i discovered that furious AI attacks an unreasonablly smaller number of times then even on norman aggresiveness. i played a hands off game with furios AI aggresivenes and in 300 years europe had fought exactly 21 wars. is this realistic?? then i played with turkey, and i went for a diplomatic way and the strategy of taking a province in each war, so my BB wars didn't start until 1700's, and in the meanwhile only Spain had attacked me and they offered me a white peace before my troops could be transported from thrace to sicily by boat?? i think this entire system with CB shields could use a redrawing, since they just don't represent the frequency of wars in europe at that time. something should be invented. i started this thread to establish a way through discussion.

That's just weird. When I play on Furious AI, there are sometimes 21 wars going on at the same time :D

I love the Carnage of World Wars before their time. One time I changed all the AIs to 100% Warmongers. Changed everyone to Latin Tech and gave everyone $100000 to start with. Let me just say all Hell was breaking loose.:D

It seems Paradox has done quite some tweaking with the AI. I'm glad to hear it.

Regarding world wars: I think we could call the 7 years war or the 30 years war a world war too, although there was no fighting in Asia at that time.

Dang, in my games (on normal) I tend to make sure that situations like that NEVER happen again (get what I mean?) :D

The napoleanic wars should really be called world war I, it involved most of the world due to the vast extention of the English and France colonial empires.

The Seven Years War is the first that's been seriously described by a historian as the first "World War". I tend to agree with him, even though I still mentally reserve the title for big mistake numbers one and two of this century.

THe AI sometimes starts a war and he's not prepared.

As Austria I had big armies stationed at all strategic places. Then some minor countries DOW'd me and I had to retain myself not to annex them all (and by this sky rocketing my bb value).

Those minors had no armies in service when they DOW'd me. Afther the DOW they recruited troops but were to late.

And it's so hard not annexing them.

Evil me: "Come on, annex them. You know you want to"

Good me: "No, it's wrong. Your BB wil rise."

Evil me: "Who cares? That means more wars and more annexations"

Good me: "But..."

Evil me: [Shoots Good me]

Me: [Annex! Annex!]

I just read a book about the Seven Years war, so before I forget everything, I need to post something about it. Here's my chance!

The Seven Years war included the following conflicts:

1) British & British Provincial troops vs. French, French Provincial and Native American forces in North America. The British ended up capturing most of French North America.

2) British Naval forces again French Naval forces all over the world.

3) British capture of various French Sugar islands in the Caribbean.

4) British and Allied forces vs. French & Allied forces in India. This ended with the capure of most French holdings in India, and the defeat of various local forces Allied with the French.

5) Prussia and various German states, with some English troops & support, again Austria, Russia and France in various combinations. This ended mostly in a stalemate.

6) England vs. Spain (allied with France). England captured Havana and parts of the Phillipines.

Sounds like a world war to me.

Both the Wars of Spanish and Austrian Succession have been described as world wars as well. Fighting between the British on one side and France and Spain on the other led to battles in both of those wars in North America, the Carribean, and in India.

Anyone who's watched a hands-off game's Spainish declarations of War on the Aztecs or the Incas knows that!:D

What really bugs me is when you see a "major power" do that, when you've got at least a couple of hundred thousand men within striking distance of his border, and he's got.........well, nothing.

If not why not consider wars faught in just EURafroasia like alexander the great, the mongols or the muslem - christion war after 1498 when the portugese and spanish were lunching offensives against islam in Africa, arabia and the phillipens

Antarctica, for fairly obvious reasons, doesn't count.........Australia might have been a better choice for this post!

Forgive me, but were there actual battles on Australian soil? I know I am nit-picking, but could we safely assume that to be a World War it must include a majority of the States that exist upon the earth? So, the World Wars of the 20th century were just that in that they included the majority of states in the conflagration?

But in the same breath, the 30 years war included European powers, correct? Not Asian, or North American interests? Again, I am rather unsure of the exact specifics of the war(stupid television has given me the memory retention of, of...What was i talking about?:D) I know that it was in Europe, but in Asia? In America? If so, it could be said that it was a world war.
Just curious, loooking for clarification is all
