Hi!

I'm currently playing as a Basque emperor of Hispania, with Navarra as my personal kingdom. I have taken the Duchy of Gascogne (de jure part of Aquitaine) for myself, owning all of its counties directly. However, the duchy does not seem to begin the process of drifting to the kingdom of Navarra.

Is there any reason for it? Can anyone help?

Disclosure: I'm running a few mods, but they're all cosmetic, nothing that changes gameplay.

As I understand it, assuming the duchy title is non-existent, held by you, or held by your vassal, after 1 year, it will show on the de jure kingdoms map as "becoming independent, as Empire of Hispania", because duchies only drift into the holder's primary title.

If you're an emperor, duchies stop drifting into any kingdom to which you personally hold the title. If you give someone else the Kingdom of Navarra and all the counties in the duchy, plus the duchy title, then the duchy will drift into the kingdom.

Note that there's a bug with transferring vassalage of duchies to a king to whom the duchy isn't a de jure territory, so don't give the duchy title to someone and then try to transfer them to the kingdom.

I don't think this is a bug. I have found that you can only transfer duchies to not de jure kings only if that duchy's de jure kingdom does not exist.

For example I can only transfer the Duchy of Normandy to my vassal King of Wales if the Kingdom of France does not exist.

Thanks for you help, everyone!

It's a shame, though, I was hoping to make Navarra into a privately-owned Basque country of sorts. Oh well.
