The mobile version of the site is problematic, the new forum software we are implementing will handle mobile devices much better.

No not yet, soonish but not imminent. Work is progressing well, the goal is to get it up to the level of the existing forums, go live and then add features as time/budget allows. It is really the new ground work that is being done to allow us to add more features and improve things. Although IIRC Mobile is set to be an improvement on release.
