i like to play historically but for the first time i wanted to try worldconquest. took france for it is supposed to be easy this way. united france quickly went for the force-vassalation of castille (3 times for they kept warring me [they did not leave alliance after force-vassalation?]) and tried in 1550 what i never tried before diplo-annexed a mayor. they accepted. i had all those nice colonies and a fleet. i ordered my conquistador to board my newly aquired fleet with 40k troops to conquer myself some gold.
while on its wy through the sea i was hit by civil war. all my troops except some small forces turned sides and rebellions all over.

the colony of moron did as well get conquered by rebells instantly. no problem me thinks just unboard your 40k there and you´ll be set. so  there unboarded a 40k rebell-army led by my conquistador

after putting out the rebellions, my treasure chest empty in between i was struck by a second civil war

this time all of europe dowed me.

always thought troops on ships were not to turn into rebells. another 3k detachment on ships turned into rebells as well in the second civil war.

You should have unloaded them somewhere near enemy colonies and away from your own. :D
That would have caused some havoc.

Interesting. This is the second report I have noticed of having troops aboard a ship go rebel when a CW hits you. We had a discussion about it a month ago or so.

Many of us have never experienced it.

Is it possible that this troop was boarding when the CW hit? That they were not yet aboard the ship?

But if they turned rebel before they boarded, then they shouldn't have completed boarding, should they?

I agree that they should stop it it is meant to be realistic, if that is what you meant. But if it is coded like that I don't know.

What does armies on land do when the CW hits. DO they stop marching?

That I don't know really, but that's not exactly a comparable situation. If they turned rebel while boarding, then they should lose the ability to board your ships (as they are not your army anymore) and so they should not board. A similar situation would be with the army that started boarding a ship - which then engaged in combat. Such an army will still march until they reach the ship but will not board. Or with the army with a conquistador that was sent to TI - if a conquistador dies while they march, they will lose the ability to explore and so they won't explore a new land. Same here - if they lost the ability to board your ships, the game logic as it's implemented elsewhere would require that they don't board your ships.

As to whether it's actually coded like that, I don't really know either, that's why I was asking.

Actually, if you wanted to get realistic, if they turned while boarding ships, they should capture the ships. :D

as to the boarding problem, they were one hundret percent already on their way and boarded on ship for otherwise i would not have sent them away the first place for they were (supposed to be) my main army. they were on their way and arrived in the caribean sea shortly after cw struck me.

well, no need for me to keep always 50k on ships when playing the ottos anymore

what surprised me as well was that the leader turned sides. imagine a rebell army led by turenne or even nappy

Pity, it would be so funny seeing monarch leaders doing it best to destory his own country

It was fixed in one of the earliest patches.
In ye olde days you could see Napoleon hell-bent on dismantling France from his own rule
