I'm afraid I already know the answer, but if someone could confirm it I'd be grateful.

Is it possible to use the trigger command in one event, then have the second event which is triggered by the first have a date statement? Or does the event which is triggered always have to fire immediately?

What I'd like to do is have event A trigger event B, but with a lag of a few months.

You need to make sure event B is triggered by event A, not the other way round. Its easy enough to do, just include an event = ???? as your trigger in event B and specify a date/offest etc elsewhere.

Is it possible (I don't think so, but thought I would ask) to have a later event that will be triggered in such a way, but only by one of the choices in the first event?

Yes. Put a sleepevent command in the other choices.
