Tribute cancelled?

Hello,

I have won a decisive victory over the Golden Horde as Poland, and I have demanded a tribute (3,1 ducats per month). It immediately showed up on my finance sheet, but just disappeared shortly afterwards (might be after month or so)! I do not have a land border with them. Is that the reason? Or is there something else going on here? I did not have any message about cancelling tribute (or perhaps I missed it?).

I have EU3 complete from Gamersgate, with a bunch of sprite packs, and 5.2 patch just recently installed.

If you don't have a land border with them you don't pay tribute so I assume the opposite is true.

Yep, the hordes will only deal with their neighbours. They will even lose their vassals if they lose the land border with them.

Might as well rollback a year and demand them to just concede defeat, and get some prestige instead.

If you think prestige is worth it. Its something that when playing agressivky is hard to keep under a 100 anyway. But thats why they invented SoI
