Hello,

A quick question about how tributaries work.

I was playing as a tributary of China (Western Protectorate). I then got into a war with the heir of the my realm. The ruler died in the war, and the heir (who was leading the revolt) won, but I discovered I was no longer part of the Western Protectorate.

Did this happen because the heir was a leader of a revolt? I would like to know for future reference.

Thanks!

AFAIK, a successful revolt to overthrow the tributary ruler will break it free. The original ruler ( or its family?) will again become a tributary subject to the suzerein if he manages to take back the throne. I consider this to be nonsensical though...
