Hello,
I really hope that Middle East and especially Caucasus area will be Your pick for the next immersion pack, as these countries at the moment have literally no flavour whatsoever. And they do have great potential, countries such as Trebizond, Karabakh/Armenia, Georgia, Circassia could be so much fun to play!
My idea for Trebizond mission tree.
It would revolve around restoring the Byzantine Empire (2nd Komnenoi Restoration)
1. Have good relations with Middle East neighbours (Trebizond rulers allowed marriages also with Muslims to mitigate threat for it's independence). Temporary buff to +2 diplomatic reputation and improve relations+20%.
2. Build army up to force limit and hire a mil advisor -> perma claims on Erzerum and Erzican + Imereti and Samtskhe. Temporary buff of +10% land morale and +5% discipline + free general with 60 tradition.
3. Completing the above gives:
a) Claims on georgia and subjugate cb on Circassia
b) Event where Trebizond buys back Kaffa and Matrega from the Genoese. Give 100 ducats + give trade power to Genoa for a while as a price.
c) Perma claims on Karadeniz area (Candar and Ottomans). Mission to annex Candar.
4. With Matrega and Kaffa secured -> annex Theodoro, which in turn gives an event of "Kalamita Fortress" -> local province defensiveness buff and attrition for fleet and blockade force needed modifier+ new cot appears in theodoro. Kalamita Fortress could also be a Monument in future patches.
5. With subjugation of Circassia done -> max you relations with Mamlukes, which will start an event of selling more cirassian slaves to Egypt (relations buff which can help Trebizond secure strong alliance with Mamluks to counter the Ottoman threat)
6. Completing missions regarding Georgia, Circassia, Theodoro, Genoese colonies and Mamluk relations -> Trebizond is big enough to be reckoned with and an event starts where pontic diplomats are lobbying in the West (Papal States, Hungary, Poland, Venice, Genoa) for yet another crusade against the Ottomans -> temporary big buff in relations and dip reputation for Trebizond so it can secure and alliance in the west, so they have a fighting chance against Ottos. Perma claims on Anatolian coastal provinces and Constantinople.
Scornfully insult Ottoman Empire to get a general with 100 tradition.
7. Having cored Sinope - an event of Sinope shipyards starts -> free shipyard building in Sinope + auto-build 4 carracks for free in the province + "Sinope shipyards" modifier in Sinope -> perma local trade power buff in Sinope + permanent buff of yearly navy tradition, +15% naval forcelimit maybe morale of navies buff or galley combat ability.
8. Securing western and northern coast of Anatolia -> "Christians come out of hiding" -> provinces convert to orthodox and potic/greek culture.
9. Capturing Constantinople would give them a chance to restore the Byzantium without the necessity of holding other lands in Europe (they do hold significant amount of land in Anatolia afterall..). Auto-change culture to greek in Constantinople and orthodox faith + some local perma buffs, such as "Restored Walls of Constantinople/Theodosian Walls": local defensiveness +50%, ship power needed to blockade +100%, local garrison +25%.
Restoring Byzantine empire gives a permanent global modifier of "Komnenian restoration":
+1 diplomat
+1 diplomatic reputation
+1 diplomatic relation slot
+1 yearly legitimacy
-10% liberty desire in subjects
+1 yearly absolutism
10. If Trebizond restores Byzantium please make it so it's a different tag than Paleologoi Byzantium. Different map color (violet! similar to map color of Theodoro
) and another flag (yellow background with black two headed eagle with an imperial crown). Or at least give them another flag - it's disheartening to restore Byzantium as a Komnenoi while having a Paleologoi banner...
And if you're feeling lazy, just give them Epirus flag
- for some reason, I think they are using alternative Byzantine Empire flag (are they?).
11. Restoring Byzantine Empire would give Trebizond some perma buffs and a special government tier-1 reform of "Byzantine Empire" or "Byzantine autocracy" (reform icon="queen" or make a new nice one only for this purpose
):
+50% chance for a new heir
+1 diplomatic reputation
+5 maximum absolutism
+2 mil stats for each heir (Byzantine Emperors led their armies to war or to crush rebellions all the time afterall)
+100 governing capacity
12. A whole branch of economical development of the Trebizond Empire, inc. developing provinces manufacturies and local and global economical/trade buffs... I have no idea at the moment, but it would be nice, since Trebizond will struggle financially.
13. In late XVII/XVIII century - if Trebizond/Byzantium holds Bolu/Boukellarion province -> discovery of coal in said province. (main source of hard coal for Ottoman Empire)
14. If Trebizond/Byzantium recaptures Thessaloniki - change goods produced in province to gold. (main source of gold and minting in Byzantium/Ottoman Empire)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siderokausia
15. Please give pontic greek naming to conquered provinces. (just copy the existing greek file and rename it to pontic_greek) Adding this on my own breaks ironman.
This is just an idea, it can be expanded upon. I'll talk about proposed changes to Byzantium in another thread.
If you have some other ideas please share.
Thanks!
