Hi guys, I have made yet another tips / guide video. This time regarding the transportation system. I go over how to best create the bus routes, connect them around your city, and optimize flow when connecting them to the metro, and everything else. So if you weren't sure what the best options were, or just wanted a little helping hand, come check it out! Hope you guys find it helpful! :)

Hmm, how far are people willing to walk to a bus stop? Looked pretty far between stops there, do that line cover the entire area of the line? Or do you have spots between stops that are too far for people to walk to? I have no idea, thats why I ask. Thanks for the video.

Yeah, I'm acctually going to restart the city alltogether. I've learned alot the last few days from youtube vids, the wiki and the forum. I just plugged and played this game without doing any research on strategies first :) You just gotta love youtube :)

Same here!

Remember its easy to edit lines that already exist. Right mouse click to delete a stop and left click and drag on any part of the line to add a stop anywhere on the map. Allows you to tweak them, to delete redundant stops, add new ones or extend you line further as you build.

You're right. Also, I've looked through my bus lines, and found that a few lines are actually full, even though it's a circular route. Those ones are in areas with "one-way" streets/roads/highways. Most of the busses are full, 30/30. In other areas where I have two way streets, the busses could be empty or have 3-7 passengers. I'm guessing those spots need a back-and forth route, and better connections. Or main "express routes" with small local bus routes connecting to them.

Another reason why you might have some routes with few passengers in some areas over others is because not much traffic is going through the area. It could be either there isn't a lot of industry there, or shops, or anything of that sort. Doing a back and forth will help, but where there isn't much, there will generally be less people using transportation. And the one that goes around in a circle is probably going through very busy areas so it is constantly full.

Thanks for your video, Krozjin! :) But please, let me to share some of my transportation tips as well ;) I think, you should build more trains, because they can be really efficient and they definitely DO cut back on traffic! I have them everywhere and on really crowded places they're 240/240 and a lot of people can't get on the train anymore and have to wait for another one :D I have an outer circulator (both directions), an inner circulator (also both directions) - those are the most busiest lines, they connect a whole ring of districts with each other... and then I have a lot of local lines, which connect districts to the circulator lines and go somewhere else, f.e. all of my districts are close to each other, but they're not interconnected by normal roads, just by the highway. So I have a bunch of train stations on the sides of those districts and I criss-cross connected them. That way the people can get really quickly and conveniently from one district to the NEIGHBOURING one, if they have to go across the half city, they take their bus/metro, go to their local train station, take the local train to the circulator lines, or they use a long distance train and then maybe transfer to another local train and then go by bus/metro to their destination. My city is not completed yet though, but when I will finally get to the center of the map, I'm going to make the city-center circulator line and then a bunch of other lines to connect all of the districts and circulators together. I have 200000+ population, but I don't have bad traffic (except for the main commercial district and the main industrial district :D) In some districts I also have a dense bus system, in other districts, I have dense metro systems. I rather have the stops close to each other.

Thanks for the tip. I'm currently holding off adding more train stations because I'm only around 100k population and have absolutely no traffic issues at all, even after trying the proper hard mod that disabled / reduces vehicle despawn. Later on as I grow I'll definitely add some train lines. With a city of my size I think it's fine personally right now. In my latest cities video, at the beginning I believe, I turn on the traffic view if you want to see what mine looks like right now.

I agree, trains really cut down on trafic congestion, but the stations need to be connected to a bus and/or metro network to really be efficient. The up-side of rail is that you don't need alot of stations, only as a hub or in busy areas. The down-side is that rail is a pain to lay down and connect.
