Hi there.

Im pretty new to HoI2 and ive been looking in the forums and FAQs but i cant find what im looking for.

I'm playing as Japan from 1936 ive just defeated Nationalist China and the warlords and want to launch an amphibious assault against Persia but my transports only have a range of 3000km and persia is more like 5000km away from my territory.

How do i launch a marine invasion?

You will need to rebase your transports in a port province that is within range of the target province. Likely that means you will need to occupy a province on the Indian subcontinent. If Siam is within range of Persia perhaps you can ally with them if you are not already and use a Siamese port as the transports base port. Are you at war with UK and France yet? They will be holding most of the provinces within transport range of Persia, and it should be easy pickings to pick up a port base from the allies once you are at war with them.

Basically two options are 1) ally with someone within range and rebase your transports, 2) conquest of port provinces from your enemies and rebase your transports.

Taking Persia would really be excellent when looking forward to fighting Allies, you would get not only excellent source of oil, but also 2nd direction to attack India from.
Maybe Saigon is in range after you get Vichy Indochina? You would have to do some research but if you somehow managed to get Vichy Indochina AND Madagascar, Madagascar might also be in range.

Its my first ever time playing this game

Its Oct 1939 and im not at war with the allies yet but my belligerance is very high 131 and the war in Europe has already started. I have annexed all of Nationlist China and The Warlords starting territories my IC is 154/109.

From the looks of it there no way to get to persia without first invading British colonial territory in india.

Just a later advice, when you have Persia, capture Turkey, then you have the Caucuses in site. After you have Turkey, move in for Romania, but it's going to be hard, as Romania is made up of mostly Mountains and Hills, so your tanks won't be as effective. But Romania is advised because of Ploesti or whatever you call it, it's a province that produces roughly 57 Oil, combined with that province in Persia which makes 33 Oil, you will effectively control 9% of the World supply just like that.

But you don't get full oil from those provinces. And as Japan it's not really smart to build tanks anyways. Only place where you can really use them is India (unless you attack USA mainland :rofl

I know that, but you still control it since the Nation you stole it from can't trade it away.

Guys i cant figure out how to do this without incurring the wrath of allied nations huge navies,

There is no way to cross the indian sea to Persia without
invading Shri lanka to capure a naval base and refuel.

i can just about reach persia before the British and French Navies arrive and invariably destroy me. Both of them have larger fleets than me and more modern ships ships.

I have organised my ships as per the naval primer 1 CTF 2 SAGs 1 wolfpack (6subs) and 2 transports groups (which constantly get ambushed and shot to peices)

I guess you're playing as Japan. No worries, you can always reach Persia from overland.
