Translyvania "Dracula" Achievement

I finally got this after about 7 hours worth of attempts.

Had to cheese it with Paratroopers in late 38.

Anyone else go for this one yet? How did you do it?

I have attempted to go for this, but to no avail. I might use your strategy hahah. How did you go about it if I may ask? When I tried doing it France just Guaranteed them making me unable to annex them without a peace deal which required me to capitulate France, and I never seem to have luck with paras

I'm going to have a wild guess he did it on non-historical, so France doesn't join Allies, meaning that even though they guarantee Romania when you capitulate romania you can annex them instantly without factions screwing over the peace deal. Also, paratrooper cheese seems to work I guess lol.

I am going to attempt this right now to see if I can get it. Paras + airforce + relevant focus tree path to obtain it, and of course giving romania to Transylvania. (also don't leave it too late so parts of romania get gobbled up by other countries.)

Basically non-historical, pray Poland doesn't form miedzymorze, and for some reason the French aren't called in even though they guarantee them. (Weird)

Rush going communist asap, you can cheese it by firing the civil war instantly in the decisions tab and having only 1 cavalry division in the field, and 10 cavalry divisions training, so the enemy AI has no divisions to start with and you can force deploy those divisions and rush their vps.

After civil war, get paras, train 8, then get army XP to crank down their battalion starting number of 3 to 1 so you can have 16. I launched 8 from the Soviets after I joined them, and 8 from Yugoslavia.

Other than that, I also made a spy agency while all this was going, did the necessary upgrades to get a second spy, then launched the 'prepare collaboration government' to lower Romania's capitulation limit.

Use the divisions you get from the puppet focuses to hold the front line.

When you declare war, hopefully they don't join a faction, and MAKE SURE you call in Transylvania so you can give them all the territory. Then your paras should land easily as Romania will have diverted most of its troops to the soviet border or your border.

Easy win. I feel sorry for the OP as he spent 7 hours and it only took me 50 minutes and two retries to optimise it Reminds me of some horrifically attrition based achievement hunting in past HOI4 games lol. *cough* reform-austria hungary and annex the world *cough*

They probably didn't do the "Purchase Time" focus since it's non historical thus keeping it's guarantees on Czechoslovakia, Romania and Yugoslavia thus not allowing it to interfere in a Yugo-Romanian, Czech-Romanian or Czech-Yugoslavian war, that focus removes France's guarantee on Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, imo it should remove its guarantee on Romania too.

I am curious as how you release Transylvania as your puppet while being communist Yugoslavia? When I attempt to do so the button to release the nation stays grayed out and I can not click it.

You don't, you can't release Transylvania without doing the "Autonomy for Slavic Transylvania" focus, you need to go for the "Western Focus" branch to do that and use the PP you save to get a communist advisor to switch communist (or a fascist advisor if you'd rather go Fascist)

I will attempt this achievement at some point. This advice is really helpful.
But you can play non-historical, but go into custom rules and put Poland on historical which won't disable the achievements.

Exactly, though you can do the Friendship with Italy focus to save some time if you want since it only taks 35 days and also unlocks the self government branch.

My attempt didn't go well. A spy was captured (losing the opportunity to complete the collaboration mission). I think the factories spent on that would have been better spent on improving output. A successful spy mission is great but it is high risk for little reward. Czechoslovakia also joined the war (supporting Romania). RNG rolled against me. With their air force, I couldn't get the air superiority to launch my Para assault (but having them join was enough by itself). Just a cautionary tale.

I've read you can also create Transylvania by pupetting it from Romanian territory during the peace conference. Never checked it myself though.

Updated Wiki has an easy communist method. I was inefficient and didn't take Romania until mid 1940 but no problems on historical mode. Creating Transylvania in the Peace Conference worked.

Thanks to whoever added the Communist strategy for this achievement to the wiki. I worked like a charm for me.

It was a little nerve-wracking at the beginning of the war, as Hungary had a justification cooking on Romania that would finish 9 weeks after mine did. If Hungary had declared war on them, that would have brought the Axis and Allies into the conflict, ruining the achievement. Luckily, I only needed 6 weeks to capitulate Romania.

I used 48 divisions of mostly 8/1 and 7/2 Infantry, with 350 fighters for air superiority. I also had 1941 Artillery and the 4th Superior Firepower tech before the war, which helped push those Romanian divisions out of the mountains really fast.
