So, a bit of a background. I've started a Hive Mind run, got an "Adaptive" trait knowing that I won't have other species to colonize other planet types for me. I was hoping I could then enhance the "Adaptive" trait to "Extremely Adaptive" via genetic engineering... but... they're mutually exclusive. I then went to wiki and figured out that other "enhanced" traits are also exclusive with their basic versions (Venerable, Very Strong).
Is that an oversight or is it a "feature" by design? Why can't I enhance an already existing trait via genetic engineering? I can't even remove the Adaptive to replace it with Extremely Adaptive since you can't remove positive traits. The situation is even more ridiculous if you consider that you can get Extremely Adaptive with innate Non-Adaptive, but not innate Adaptive.
I mean, I do understand this logic when you create a species, a way to make sure you don't stack traits (like Adaptive + Extremely Adaptive for 30% bonus), but with genetic engineering it doesn't make much sense. Besides, it makes the evolution ascension path kind of less appealing than it is at a glance.
