At some point PDX could balance some specie traits, buff the worse, nerf too good to be true one (unrully),
We can always dont use them, however if more traits are good, there will be greater versality to almost optimal builds which are fun enought to play.
Main subjects to buff:
Conformist - there are many ways to buff ethic attraction it is not worth 2 points.
+Make it cost 1 point
Venerable - There are many ways to get lifespan, or make your leaders immortal, so we can get same effect for much cheaper.
+ Make it cost 3
+ Add new trait Immortal which cost 4 and makes pops...immortal.
Quick learners - XP required is geometric so +25% has minimal impact
+ bundle it with Talented
+double effect
Talented - too many ways to stack max leader lever, so it doesnt matter
+ Make it 2
+ Bundle with quick learner
+ Talented leaders are 3% better at their job (fire rate, survey speed and so on)
+ Gain 100xp when recruited
Defensive - OMG so niche
+ Add extra Hitpoints and morale of your defensive army?
+ Make it overall combat army trait affecting both defensive and offensive armies
+ Add Battlebeast trait making good offensive armies, but make it good
Very Strong - 5% worker output is so so, as our workers do one job! Offensive armies stats are useless
+Reduce cost to 2points
Overtuned
Generally -5 and -15 are completly fine numbers, and -5 is enought to put minimaxers off.
Gene Mentorship - same issues as fast learners. Also leaders trait are counter productive with shorter lifespan
+ make it double
+make it -5 years
Low Maintainence - it is similar to conversationist but we get negative lifespan.
+ make it double or at least -15%
+ reduce lifespan to -5 so it will be ok for leaders
Spliced Adaptability - this one is very generous, some may even say... overtuned. Too good in comparison to Adaptability
+ Make it cost 2 points, it will still be ok.
Naughty list
This trait deserve nerf
Unrully - only fraction of sprawl is result of pops, and only part of your empire pops is your primary spiece, so this is free 2 points.
+Make it give +1 point only.
Habitability
Voidborne - 0% on normal worlds is raught and doesnt make sense, as habitats are made to be similar to planets, so planets wouldnt be such histile.
+ Make it 20% regular world habitability, we can always build habitat on the surface
+ Make all other species have base 50% habitability on space habitats (but not oceanic habitats) as if you try to please everyone, nobody is happy.
Ringworlds - this are even more similar to normal worlds. You cant even use what about gravity bones argument. This habitability make Shattered Ring origin too hard, and unlike Voidborne we cant even build new habitats.
+ Make it 50% for other worlds as ringworlds are avarage of everything.
