Hi guys,

First of all, I absolutely love what you guys have done so far, and I hope you focus on releasing it ASAP instead of adding new features. Great job!

With that in mind, one of the features of SC4 I liked the most was a way to see not only which streets are busy with traffic, but also where the traffic is coming from and going on those streets. You can even see where people living in specific houses go to, as well as differences in morning vs evening traffic. I always found this a must-have in order to be able to properly address traffic congestion, as you can really only plan new routes if you know where people want to get to.

Here's how it looks like in SC4
SimCity-2.jpg

Do you guys have any plans to support something like that?

I hope so. This would be extremely useful when planning and building cities. What would be cool is that when you click on a household, it shows the place where the workers go to work and the route they take to get there. It shows where the students go to school, and the route they take to get there, and also the most recent route they took to go shopping.

yeah, the route query tool in SC4 was awesome. that would be awesome to have in this game. so useful.

Most useful tool in the game, if you ask me. Especially for planning subs and bus routes.

Wasn't this added through a mod? Or was it Rush Hour maybe? Definitely one of the most useful things regarding traffic, click on a few skyscrapers and get an idea where people are going.

It was a great tool for when you had to plop down a station in a subdivision. It would show how far the people were willing to walk to the bus stop to take the bus. Before you would have to plop an other station down. It would also show you how many people were using it and were their routes were to work or schools etc. The highrise apartments were always packed. Sometimes you would have to add another stop for convenience. It also was a great tool for showing if a huge apartment would survive occupancy by showing if there was anybody taking the bus to work etc.
Yes I really like this tool, it's very useful !

Agree. Such a tool would be very welcome :)

I never played vanilla sc4, but Rush Hour had that tool built in.

I really hope this is not in-game.
Why? Because this would mean that the path-finding isn't smart, doesn't take into account the traffic when the citizens are moving. It's a good tool when roads are statistical but it's not a good one when they are simulated as it doesn't make sense anymore.

However, a tool giving the information where are the jobs and leisure for the people in the houses (and the corresponding things on the other buildings) would be great.

the route query tool was added in the Rush Hour expansion. Along with U-drive it, monorail, one-way roads .. and other things.

That was such a good game.

U-drive it sucked, imo. U didn't drive it, you tried to control it from overhead a-la GTA. I was used to racing games with interior/bumper/hood views. This is something I'd like to see in a city sim.
