a thing that i've been thinking about for a while, to make every nation unique.
In those times there really weren't strong traditions like in EU4 times, so, how could we give unicity to a nation?
Tying something to culture would be rather stupid, because in those time traditions were tied more to the state than to the culture (see sparta and athens as an example).
so, I've come up with an idea, that could be tied up with Philosophy.

@v22 your idea is well fleshed out, and interesting to say the least. Full disclosure, I do not know how this could be implemented in the game, but personally I do like the idea. I'll try to see with the devs if this could be implemented today or later on (although I cannot guarantee that 100%, as we still have tons of work in the pipelines). @safe-keeper 's post on a mix system also raises a good point in my opinion. Also @wielkiciensteam , I took the liberty of adding your point (which I have found on other places on the forum from other fans) to my report. We'll see how it goes. I'm glad about your involvement and passion for our games! I'll try to keep you posted. If you ever want to know how everything turns out, don't hesitate to ping me in a month or so for feedback from the team (we send our reports on a monthly basis, and since we're in July and most peeps are on holidays it might take a tad longer).

Great, and that's the PDX approach I want to see!

Thank you.
I'd be very happy if the devs team listens to my this, even if they reject it, let alone if they choose to implement it.
If it makes things simpler, I could write down some things to start with.
And, out of curiosity
Great, and that's the PDX approach I want to see!
What was your Point?

I know the thread is dead, but i want to make a little addition to this, even if it will be locked down aftherwards.

Rebellions
What will happen, if a Rebellion takes place?
The ideas, how do they change?

Tet's take an example:
Phirgya prima.png

This is antigonid empire before a rebellion

afther it, the "original" country retains its traditions.
but, to the rebellious side?
Phirgya Dopo.png

Exactly, almost nothing.
the little change is in the "hellenic tradition", that goes back to its previous form.
Why is that?
It is because the rebellious side loses one level of the latest tradition acquired, to represent a "worsening" of the society (because a rebellion always has a negative impact of some sort). This way, although, the nation could also loose a negative trait.
Also, the philosophy would be resetted, if there are any.

But, if there is a country breaking free from a nation that conquered them?

In this case it is very simple:
ribellione 2.png

The country that brakes away retains it's basic Traditions (and the philosophy if the overlord had any)
as basic tradition i mean the "unique" tradition of that country, plus the "basic" level, or first level of a tradition that tha nation had.

I love the idea of philosophies granting bonuses and maluses, but I’d prefer for them to spread like religion among the populace, so if you have let’s say a stoic populace slaves would want more rights and waging war would be more difficult

Made an update to adress @Denkt concerns, and fixed "Edonism" with "Epicureanism"

As a side note: epicureans are not hedonists; cyrenaics where.

I feel like having another system that works that way (religion and culture) would put more pressure on the pc while running the game and makes the correlation with the other system (traditions) harder.
I admint it would be more realistic, but not necessatily more fun
