Yeah. A goal if you're playing Portugal is to get the uncolonised trade node in Africa, which will be a pinnacle point for trade from South America, and then to get the Brazillian trade node. That'll give you more cash than you need really.

I don't know why, but the Carribean islands strike me as a better target that Brazil. I imagine Paradox won't connect a bunch of them with adjacencies, so as a country with naval superiority, it should be easy enough to maroon an enemy stack in Cuba. That and I like the idea of monopolizing the sugar trade.
