Unfortunately I don't think this information gets stored in the save file (especially not on a country by country basis) and your success rates will have to be constantly monitored to account for changing levels of trade tech for you and your competitors. In EU2 I've certainly come to the conclusion that the only time I (or anyone else)makes money is when some nations stop competing. If everyone sends all their merchants all the time then the competition costs more than it is worth.

....This is why Mercantalism(10 - granting 50% cost reduction of sending merchants) is very very good in the beginning of the game when u dont need colonists and when trade efficiency is relatively low.

And it reflects the more global change in the nature of trade.

Well ...I am kinda new to this game ...still playing my first GC with Denmark on Easy.

I would never use autosend .....and for me it is too expensive to try to grasp a monopoly inside Europe, as there are too many competitors, and it is ALWAYS your merchant that gets kicked out, so you loose monopoly. At least that is how it seems to me ...but I am not completely into the rules and such of the game yet.

I just spread out, putting 5 merchants in each CoT ....especially when many wars are being fought, I don't have to spend money keeping my market share.

In my game ...if I send 3 or 4 merchants I will only get one merchant in ....one competes away another and two are lost ...so I only put in two at a time .....if they fail ...I send two more. It seems more efficient that way.

As mentioned, make sure you send them a day apart, then you should be more succesful.
