Hi all, new player not sure if this has been discussed before. I played a random new world and found it frustrating that none of their trade nodes actually fed into the ivory coast at all (where I was). This got me thinking...

What if there was a mechanic in game where with enough economic/military strength you could either:
A) change whether a trade node is up or downstream of a nearby node (example: force genoa to feed into sevilla); or
B) connect previously unconnected trading nodes (example: Alexandria & Tunis)

I think this would make economic gameplay much more dynamic and still be somewhat historically accurate. If france had crushed england in the 15th century then the trade from the carribean wouldn't have flowed into the english channel, it would have flowed into bordeax.. my point being trade should change based on the dynamic world powers and not be dictated by preexisting set in stone paths.

Obviously I haven't flushed this out at all so I'd love to see some discussion.

The problem is that the program can't support it. Trade as it is already stresses the game. Checking for changes in direction would complicate the system beyond what is was designed for. We'll have to leave it for EU5.
