Three questions:

1) Is there a list anywhere of Trade Goods, their values and any special features (eg. Grain for manpower, Furs for governors (IIRC), Gold for inflation)?

2) How can you find what your total yearly income is - you can find it for each province - is there anywhere that totals it (the ledger?)

3) Is there any way of finding out provinces' culture other than looking at each one in turn?

1) DB folder, goods.csv file for the list and base values ; for the special features, you can find them in the info-popups of the manufactories and other screens, or in the goods thread in the AGCEEP subforum.

2) answered

3) no

What has fur got to do with governors?

Number of provinces with governors increases demand for fur and therefore its tradevalue

Checked. Both chief judges and governors increase the demand for furs. And conscription centers, manufactories and shipyards. It is pretty easy to push the demand for furs up to 200%.

I may be totally wrong, I'm trying to figure the whole thing out at this time, but the quite cute screen that tells you about the "demand" for trade goods and the resulting price is meaningless. That is, your production income, and the Trade Value in the local CoT will not be changed one whit by the "demand" or "supply" of the good. Instead the only variables appear to be your DP sliders, the population of the city in the province, and your Trade/Infrastructure technology level. Possibly also the presence of enemy troops (looted province); I haven't tested it.

If anyone has any information to indicate that the "supply/demand" affect upon the 'value' of the good in a province affects the economy in any way, please let me know, so I can model and test it. :)

Peter E analysed it many years ago. IIRC it was somewhat bugged but somewhat working. I distinctly remember that when he promoted officials en masse the demand figure for furs increased dramatically. However, I cannot remember if he checked on the production income of the province or the trade values in the COT. Perhaps the trade taxes income for the province increased? But probably not, I assume that value is wholly dependent on the province's trade value in the COT.

Yes, the thing I found quite surprising when doing the tests I ran on Production Income and Trade Tax income was that the Trade Value (the contribution of the province to the total trade in the CoT) was not dependant upon the supply/demand calculations, either. The amount directly paralleled the amount of production income for the province.

I've decided to go all the way back to EU and see if I can pick up where exactly the calculations went awry, if I can. I'd like to believe that all that fancy work isn't going to waste... :D
