Trade company question

Im playing as Poland right now and have a question about trade companies. even though I have 700 ours its really only been on western countries in Europe . As Poland can I make western provinces like in France trade companies if I unstate them? If I can it does not seem to make a lot of sense to do so because trade flows that way. If say I conquer Caen and make it my capital does that change my trade continent? Any help with this would be great.

Yes, changing your capitol can change where you are allowed to make trade companies if it is in a different sub-continent than your original capitol.

There is a sub continent map mode, it makes it easier to see what you can trade company and what you can't. In your case everything in the eastern European region can't be added to a trade company but everything else in the world is fair game. Also I had to look it up the other day but it's just your regular capitol not the trade capitol. So you can move your trade capitol around without worry. But for example, if you trade company stuff in western Europe and move your capitol to like France it will force all the provinces out of your trade companies and they will get a -200% goods produced modifier for 5 years.

If you have the appropriate dlc, then you can change your trade capital without changing your actual capital, which should allow you to keep your TC there, you can load a backup save as well if not sure
