Why worry about one religion's apocalyptic mumbo jumbo and not the other religion's apocalyptic mumbo jumbo. To tell you the truth, I think you're being nuttier about it than the religious nutters. Leave the nuttery to the true believers, and pick for yourself something else to go nuts about. Something less depressing. You have a soul too and it needs less depressing worries and more fun worries. Give tabletop war gaming a try. Might as well, if the world is going to hell anyways. Or Thai girls.

Science is popular these days for finding the truth. Not sure it can help in your particular existential crisis, though.
Sounds like depression. Doom and gloom, fire and brimstone, hell fire and damnation... If you can't take your mind off of those things then get someone to talk about your issues.
That someone who isn't a Christian and doesn't have faith could think the Bible is the word of God is baffling.
The Bible contradicts:
1) Itself on multiple occasions.
2) Geology regarding the age of the earth and the occurrence of a global flood.
3) Paleontology and every other science that prove evolution over creationism.
4) Genetics with regards to both Adam and Eve as well as Noah.
5) Linguistics with regards to the tower of Babel.
6) Contemporary historical records regarding certain elements of the life of Jesus.
7) Probably many other things that I can't be bothered to think about right now.
Faith requires ignoring (or reinterpreting) all of these contradictions between what the Bible says and what we can observe. Without faith there is no reason to believe anything in the Bible that can't be confirmed from another source, much less that it is the word of God.

Objective truth and religion don't go together though. You can't prove or disprove that God exists or that the Bible or the Quran or the Sutras or the Book of Mormon are true.
