Trade and Cores

Playing Castille, ~1430. Have Granada and have reduced Aragon to three provinces. Captured Sardinia from Aragon and realized it is a core (is that from start?).

Sardinia produces Copper which seems to be a fairly scarce resource, but I always thought Sardinia was a relatively impoverished and backward?

Questions:
(1) I wish there was a way to get Sardinia to start sending her trade through my CoT (Andalusia) instead of Genoa. Is there not a way to do this?

(2) I was surprised to realize Sardinia was a core province for Castille. None of the map functions seem to show core/non-core. Is there an easier way to scope out any other cores out there beside clicking on each individual province?

Not sure about the first but activating diplomatic map view (that green/grey one) gives a view of exactly that. Light green are your owned and cored, striped lightgreen/grey are owned and not cored and those cored but not owned.

For 1, maybe embargo Genoa. You'll get a small TE penalty though.

2) One of the early Castille missions is to conquer Italian provences; the reward for which is to gain cores. Guessing this mission was active when you took Sardina. Don't fully remember the event details but most likely this gave you the core.

italian ambition - gain core on any/all captured provinces in italy (only good for one peace deal or even diplo annexation i believe)
