As for a name. . . well, the Union Party would have been ideal, but I fear there's a bit of a stench about that name now. We want something that reflects our basic ideal of a reunified Eutopia . . . . perhaps something simple, like the Eutopian League? Or the Conservative Unity Party? What are your ideas?"
I was thinking possibly something like the United Eutopian Front/Federalists, the Eutopian Imperial Party (although that might sound too undemocratic), or the Union of Solidarity (not meant to be like the Solidarity Labor Union in Communist-controlled Poland).
"Of your suggestions, I like the United Eutopian Front. It expresses our basic value: a united island. I'll have some letterhead drawn up, and I'll prepare articles of incorporation for the organization. Of course, I'll back you for party leader, and I hope you'll back me for deputy leader, or some other position of note within the party."

Drinking the sherry down, which, for his Polish upbringing, was quite weak, Kazimierz answered, "Well, I shall get to work on it at once, I am not sure of how long it will take, but most likely not very. Good day, Mr. Napier, I shall return to you quickly with the platform basis."

I was a good friend of Deaghaidh and with him at the end. He was desperately trying to find a way out of the chaos. He kept saying that his worst nightmares were coming true, that the government had become so corrupt and power hungry that it lost credibilty, that the rule of law was being shattered, factions were being pitted against each other.
He condemned CORE for lashing out against the wrong people in the wrong way, they targeted a monarch and a mayor and police force that had always tried to help the people they had power over. CORE considered him a traitor, and they stormed the Valhalla Bar and executed him in cold blood. Between the citizens and police of Farpoint none of them escaped, but many were killed and injured that day. And more fell in the days to come against CORE, but we stopped them.
I will not believe what I think he came to believe before the end, that it was all for nothing. Though he may not have lived to see it, I'm convinced the time has come for all those things he wanted for the West to come to pass. Already, the old WET is a full-fledged province, albiet the poorest and weakest one, and even the unionists conceded that the centralizing of power is harmfull to Eutopia.
The Commonality party is currently without leadership because Deaghaidh is dead and Thorsbeard was captive and still too busy rebuilding. But I think the time is right and the people ready for the idea that power, political and economic, is best kept local where people can more easily controll it.

The United Eutopian Front
Our party intends to bring about a new golden age to Eutopia, in which we shall be a major player on a new world stage. No longer shall Eutopia be a small, isolated nation. We must unite for this to happen. Now, my brothers and sisters of Eutopia, read on!
I. Military
The military of Eutopia is a great concern in these pressing hours... Our party envisions a great new fighting force, ready to combat our enemies which bombard us from all fronts. The army should be our main concern, as, until our forces have complete control over the whole island, enemies may freely land in the other "Eutopian nations" and then attack us by land, as well as the fact that our neighbours on Eutopia may also do so. We shall not let these traitors get their way, however. Secondly, we must build our navy, as it shall be the main defence of both our fishermen and our coasts. Air Force is the final priority, but it shall still be funded well. No longer shall our air force be grounded due to lack of parts, as we shall supply our brave pilots well, that they may do their job.
II. Foreign Policy
The diplomatic efforts of Eutopia must be increased dramatically in order for us to have any hope in becoming a power in the world. We must ally ourselves with such powers as the UK, in order to ensure that we are not invaded by the Spanish or Americans. It is our duty to reclaim our lost territory, whether it be Eutopia or Bermuda, in order to ensure the continuance of our people.
III. Trade
For a thriving economy, it is essential for us to open up our trading with other nations, especially those who are major powers, to ensure that we have some leverage against them in the future. Our fishermen must also be protected, and that is why a strong navy is imperative to our survival.
IV. Welfare
Welfare is often crippling to an economy, as it does not encourage one to work. However, in some circumstances, it is necessary. Welfare will not be provided to everyone. Those with children who absolutely need the money to support the children, will be granted welfare specifically for aiding their children, in a way to ensure the youth of Eutopia does not grow up to be starving and ruthless. These parents must attend meetings/seminars to help them attain jobs, or their children may be put in foster care until they are able to support them again.
Also, the elderly must also recieve some sort of support, as they cannot work, but these will not be extravagant, as we must think of the future. In order to establish a self-sufficient economy, we must help both the wage-payer and the wage-earner. Therefore, taxes on the rich will not be massive, as we must keep their businesses afloat, and, even more than that, profitable enough to expand, in order to provide more jobs. No welfare means that people will have to work for jobs, which means they will work harder to keep their jobs, which in turn ensures their productivity and self-sufficience. Healthcare will be provided to those who absolutely need it, but only for necessary procedures.
V. Abortion/Homosexual Marriage
These matters will be left as a matter of the states/provinces, as it must be decided on a more local level than the federal government. The people must decide these issues.
VI. Religion
Religious tolerance is a cornerstone of any republic. All religions must be tolerated, unless they are harmful or threatening to the people or the government. We believe that we have come up with a way to support religion equally. If a church/mosque/temple/etc. is in debt, struggling, or otherwise financially damaged, the government can approve aid to it. However, when the proposition is brought forth, those deciding it must not know anything of it, other than that its financial shape. Nothing about the beliefs of the group shall be mentioned.

I support the platform of the United Eutopian Front myself, but I do note my disagreement with article six. It is not the place of the Government to support religious institutions. These matters can be discussed when the party has its first meeting though. Even if you don't agree with everything, attend our meeting, see who we are. Many of these matters are open for discussion.
