Playing as Germany, I have to endure watching Japan get steam rolled in China knowing they have 50+ divisions sitting on their thumbs on the home islands . . . Even reboots don't jump start the JAP AI into doing anything. Just create a front and assign the damn divisions already. They have maybe a dozen divisions in China total. I guess I should know they will never get the Pacific theater right.:mad:

In fact, after I noticed it the first time, I bumped China's strength up one notch in the game setup pane, and they have been steamrollered TWICE again even with the extra buffing.

This isn't totally true. The British tried to attack and occupy neutral Norway. hmm that is the only example I can think of right now though.

The UK also declared war on democratic (but Axis Co-Belligerent) Finland.

Still, democratic Germany declaring war on Switzerland is not right.

I even bumped up Japan in setup a notch. Doesn't matter if the AI will not assign divisions. I have seen the AI fall asleep in other PI games. Usually a reboot sorts that out, no such luck this time.

Factually incorrect. Paradox hired a dedicated AI programmer last year, but he/she is reluctant to use the forums. Threads like this make it difficult to deny that he/she made a sensible decision.

Really? So this secret AI programmer no-one has seen is also reluctant to put AI fixes in the 1.5 patch, right? Its a fact that they never had an AI programmer after the game was released. Please provide facts rather than just some ”secret person just hired” speculation.

Here's another oldie but baddie - AI using poor template designs. Here's US infantry - why are they using a 8-1 template with no support recon? There's not one player who would use 8-1 19 wide divisions even a noob knows quickly to use at least 7-2 with recon/arty/engineer support.

They confirmed they would not fix this bug several months before, maybe for 1.6 if players can stop demanding more features.

This seems like a pretty basic and game breaking bug. Darkest Hour and Hoi3 don't have this problem. And why blame the "players" for stopping the devs from fixing the AI bugs because they want more features?

Because while those divisions are hardly 100% Max efficiency designs they hardly seem the be game breaking. Hell I'd use them.

They did. Maybe you think you miss fixes because WtT fundamentally changed alot of stuff which (naturally) implicates alot of changes to AI. And those did happen.

You must be new to this game. I have never seen anyone recommend a 3/3 division with no support. Standard is 5/5 with recon/maintenance and engineer and possibly signal or logistics. Many players go with 40 wide 13-7. Many use more complex templates including SPAAs and SPGs and TDs. If we met in a MP match you would be crushed with your 3/3 template pretty quickly.

Actually, there really is a new AI programmer called Engin Mercan. Until now there was only Carl Carenvall, who doesn't work exclusively on the AI.

You must be new to this game. I have never seen anyone recommend a 3/3 division with no support. Standard is 5/5 with recon/maintenance and engineer and possibly signal or logistics. Many players go with 40 wide 13-7. Many use more complex templates including SPAAs and SPGs and TDs. If we met in a MP match you would be crushed with your 3/3 template pretty quickly.
im not saying it is the ONLY template I'd use. ^_^ Just that I can see a use for it. My primary ARM use support companies etc. But it is true I really don't have much interest in competitive multiplayer. I only do some co-op with my friends

Really? So this secret AI programmer no-one has seen is also reluctant to put AI fixes in the 1.5 patch, right? Its a fact that they never had an AI programmer after the game was released. Please provide facts rather than just some ”secret person just hired” speculation.

The job advert was publicly available on the Paradox corporate site early last summer.

And if you want to see the fixes he's done, look at the 1.5 patchlog and/or open up the defines file. It's all there to see. The AI is obviously far from perfect, but the game is playable and the AI is regularly being improved. It's just that the task is very, very difficult (@Pyro157's post just below the linked one from Podcat is accurate).
