Put quite simply, having comeback to the game with 2.2 and playing quite a reasonable amount before and since I discovered today, almost by accident (i think maybe in a twitch chat on the yogscast stellaris stream)
that different planet types have different amount of district types and special resources!
(tropical = more food districts, desert = more energy districts, snow = mineral etc)

Having googled this I cant find anything about it apart from vague mentions in forums, the wiki doesn't even mention it. But various people with alot of experience with the game have assured me its the case (from looking at game files) and I found this to be my personal experience from playing, although at the time i thought it was just bad luck/weird design.

This is after playing like 30 hours as robots ascendants and wondering why all planets int he game seemed to have so much food and so little mineral districts. (I chose ocean, having no idea about this).

Considering every planet in the species creation screen has a lore only tooltip about the planetary features, I think it would be very easy to add a tooltip letting people know that X planets get more food etc districts, as new players are never gonna figure this out.

If there is one and I have just missed it, it could do with being more obvious.

(if this was meant to be in a different subforum, i apologise)

Wet planets tend to provide more food.
Dry planets tend to provide more energy,
Cold planets tend to provide more minerals.

Keep in mind that these are tendencies, and individual planetary features may vary.
