Took my daughter-in-law as my lover, had a child, whom my son claimed as his own son.

I love CK2 thread titles. Some days it makes me wonder if I've stumbled into the Jerry Springer forums by accident.

Jerry I may have banged my son's wife but those babies are not mine, they look nothing like me! I should not have to pay child support!
Daughter in law: How could you say that? I loved you and you left me in the dirt! You son of a b----!

I had something similar once. I played as the king of burgundy and married of my eldest daughter matrilinealy to the heir to the HRE which no longer was an elective monarchy. Thing is, a bit after their marriage (but before the death of the current HREmperor) I gave my daughter a good tumble which resulted in a boy being born. My now son-in-law was convinced it was his son, not that he would belong to his "father's" dynasty anyway. So now my bastard son that I had with my daughter stood to inherit both the kingdom of burgundy and the HRE after his parents (I had no true son). Only in CK2

This thread just reminds me of one of my favourite challenges in CK2. It's basically Habsburg inbreeding on steroids

Method:
1. Take an independent kingdom or duchy that is not ruled by a Zoroastrian/Messalian/Targaryen
2. Go into console, enable marry_anyone
3. From the moment I start playing the game, marriage outside the family is forbidden
4. If possible, the marriages should be as close as possible (eg. brother-sister, parent-child)
5. Enjoy trying to hold the realm together as the rulers get progressively less competent

If you want maximum shenanigans, play as a pagan or muslim - that way you can marry/concubine an additional 3 family members.

I do miss the old days though where you could some how accidently have your own daughters as lovers.

 Shouldn't that still be possible?

Really... it almost seems like there's some probability increase for affairs with women married to your kin. I had a character recently that was neither lustful nor hedonist (he was not chaste and was gluttonous -- I don't know if that last one changes anything). He had affairs with the wives of two nephews and his son. Their first children were ALL by the King (though they never knew...)
It is probably a bit skewed, simply due to who is in your court. You are more likely to marry off your relatives, to help your dynasty, which means that likely most of your court that you could have an affair with is married to a family member.

This is probably the reason it happens this way, yes. The number of unmarried women and non-dynast women married to non-dynast men does usually remain very low, at least in my kingdoms -- restricted often to some random guy's dynasty I decided to keep around. A pet dynasty, if you will.

Oh how I love CK2. I remember being slightly put off when I heard about how things were done back then. Then I read A Song and Fire and Ice and thinking what a-holes the Lannisters were for what they did. Now... I think even Tywin would shudder at some of the things I've done in CK2.

So...
I took the wife of my son as a lover, my son thought it was his son (mine :) )
Then I took the wife of my grandson as a lover... You know what I mean.
I'm playing as the son of my grandpa now (that sounds so weird...)

Is it just me who deliberately tries to make marriages to as close as possible kin? My main aim is usually to marry my heirs to his secret sister. Just amazing when you suceed with that. I found that Zoastrians are a bit boring in that regard since it takes away the challenge and fun. Marrying your own secret daughter is the ultimate thing you can do in CK. I even killed off amazing older wives just to do that. If you're disturbed by marrying cousins you need to log more gametime, simple as that! :)

Gameplay wise it's actually bad to marry your kin tho since you can't excommunicate+execute the wives of yourself and your sons. I so it anyway though, there's too much thrill in incest to avoid it. It's amazing I've never had the inbred trait appear even after more than 800h logged and several games with generations of aunt-nephew and cousin marriages. And marrying even closer when I can with the secret children. I've gotten slow and imbecile kids quite frequently, even though both parents were genius, so I would assume those get more likely too.

The scariest thing is that my king made a bastard daughter with a lover (officially unknown father) and then proceded to make her his lover when she turned 16. How creepy is that?

I've noticed since the latest patch I always get the event telling me my sons' wives' are attracted to me. I don't think it's random at all since literally everytime I get my son a wife I'll get the event telling me she's attracted to me.
