What would you do instead? Invest 15 divisions in stopping them?

In reality they would easily have their supply cut or the size of the forces would be insignificant.

The inclusion of partisans makes both of those factors a reality. The cavalry won't be able to trace supply through the previously occupied but now partisan infested territory, and they'll eventually get tracked down by the ever-increasing partisan mob.

Sounds like a solution to me.

Personally, I think if Japan had historically sent 30 divisions from Vladivostok west then that would have made for a rather interesting campaign. ;)

My post was in reference to 2 cavalry overrunning all of Russia. What you're describing is another issue altogether. Partisans are supposed to harrass supply and cause general headaches. Stopping corps and armies is the job for other corps and armies.

Certainly there are issues to be worked out with the AI... I just don't think these two issues are related. I checked out the USSR's OOB at one point in one of my games, and about 1/3 of their forces (motorized and armored included) were stationed in the East against Japan. The problem was that they only had about 25 or 30 divisions total which made for an interesting scene. :eek: I think that's the main reason why 2 cavalry overran all of eastern and central Russia...

Have no fear, air units are being tweaked. :p

I think the idea of 'province occupation' is handled abstractly (assume you sent in police forces to control the population... though your situation is a bit extreme ;)). I wouldn't want to have to manage all those units!! :eek: Besides, a division is quite a lot of troops you're talking about there... that's probably more than would be necassary to maintain control of a province (unless a group of Partisans happens to get roused up ;)).

As I've said time and time again on these forums, the AI's inability to build any quantity of units is the main factor in this occuring. In my current game as Germany, while I terribly neglected building units and concentrated on research alone (Panthers by 1938), by 1940 I had 22 blitz divisions (panzers, mechs, mots) and over 50 infantry divisions. In the meantime, the AI had a total of 17 divisions in France (all infantry but 1 cavalry and 2 mots), and about 30 in the USSR, 1/3 of which was in the East facing Japan.
