With the addition of so many provinces (I'm guessing they reduced the values of the previous ones), I've noticed that when before I would struggle for money in the first 100 years or so in any game, now I'm swimming in money right from the start in several games I've started post 1.8. Is that WAD?

I've noticed that too. I think it's trade and production related. Perhaps a consequence of the changes to the nodes and supply/demand system. Right now, I can afford to field large numbers of mercs right from the start. Whereas before in 1.7 I would have to take out multiple loans.

Linking troop maintenance and advisor costs as a proportion of a nation's income would solve some of that. The higher their income, the more costly they become. That way, smaller nations wouldn't suffer from an across the board increase in costs. Another way would be to introduce building/infrastructure or administration maintenance.

That would also give a reason to reduce the maintenance slider and mothball fleets. At the moment, I never even bother reducing them because of the surplus of ducats.

Is not more money in the game. Not for the natives in NA. Ok there are 90 new provinces in NA but most are low taxes. And 50% LA from basetax 1, 2, 3 or 4 hold you bank account low and slow your expansion. Before AoW i have twice as much money.

Not for everybody though, try Najd...
Well, all games I've started so far I've been swimming in money right from the start. I just started as Sweden and it's just ridiculous, full stack of councilors, over force limit army with some mercs, full army maintenance, and still easy on the green, while before 1.8 I had to carefully juggle my options for like the first 50-100 years (and start with 1 councilor or 2). Also Venice, Portugal, similar situation.

Sweden is rich, Ottomans are even richer, but Gelre has less money than before. Trade/Money does need some balancing.

In general big Western countries have income buffed, while things are same/worse for ROTW. Before 1.8 all the valuable stuff are in the East, but now things like fish, iron, naval supplies etc are a lot better.

I have never had to much money, could always need an extra 100k mercs and an twice as large fleet while at same time building manufactoies like they would be regular buildings.

I've played three 1.8 games. Castile, I could have fielded my force limit in mercs at game start if I wanted and only got richer. Kongo, money was always short couldn't afford advisors and an army for the first 150 years, upon completing African power it was still close at max land and navy force limit 300/150 and hiring +3 advisors though I was still making 350 gold a month, it was probably the result of 150 years of high inflation at the start. Jianzhou, money was very tight and if it wasn't for not paying unit renforcement costs (due to NI's) it would have been even worse. This leads me to the conclusion that Europe is probably richer than ever whilst ROTW is more or less unchanged.

It's not only provinces amount (overall BT), but goods price as well. Out of "lame" goods (fish,...), most start at at least 3 ducats, which used to be a nice good back then. Plus new goods like dye, which are very valuable. Then, a fleet isn't the burden it used to be anymore thanks to mothball. Changes to fleet is welcome (it was too weak pre 1.8) but yes, probably too rich.

What are you playing as?

And...

check this thread that also raised this issue:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?813186-Am-I-supposed-to-be-this-rich
Thanks, I just checked it and though it's the same issue, it's only focused on England, while I noticed it's a much more extensive issue.
And if what someone suggested, that it's mostly for Western Europe and the ROTW doesn't have that, it's even more worrysome, like Western Europe needed a buff against ROTW.

ROTW gets pretty good money if they can get boosts to goods produced, assuming they have luxury resources like ivory or dyes in their provinces. by the time the west was around tech lvl 15, I was able to afford two lvl 1 advisors and a lvl 2 advisor as songhai while westernizing.
