I wish we could have events written in the same vein as the ones in Age of Wonders 4; well-written, excellent use of in-universe context, exciting and descriptive without being silly.

Instead we get cat-apults, which the devs continue to defend.

It is just a sad development that they assessed the game should be rpg/medieval sims with strategy elements, not the other way around.
I blame redditors.
Redditors have noticed funny situations and made them into memes, I can't blame them for that. It was the developers who decided that memes would be a major element of the game.

I wouldn't even be upset if the game was primarily an RPG, the problem is that it isn't. The developers are saying that they are primarily focusing on roleplaying, but that in their understanding means events and different ways of introducing events. And how can I roleplay a medieval ruler when I keep getting events that don't fit the time period and place at all, like a surprise birthday party event or a tinder event? I can't. What they claim supports roleplaying, on the contrary, ruins roleplaying.

I wish we could have events written in the same vein as the ones in Age of Wonders 4; well-written, excellent use of in-universe context, exciting and descriptive without being silly.

Instead we get cat-apults, which the devs continue to defend.
I haven't played Age of Wonders, so I can't say. But I've seen some Old World events, and that was completely different thing than the events in CK3. CK3 is a game that spans centuries. One day means nothing, the day in the game passes in a second. That's one of the elements of grand strategy, and the events should reflect that grandness as well. Instead we get irrelevant trivial stuff at best, silly wannabe memes at worst.

Since the developers don't seem to want to change this in any way, I would also very much welcome a game rule to limit the frequency of events. If events are already ruining my game experience, at least let them not ruin it so often. I've already suggested it here once, unfortunately without any response.

Edit:
This one meme sums it up perfectly.

You know, I've been thinking for a while now that what this game needs is a Wild Wasteland toggle. If anyone here has played Fallout: New Vegas, you'll remember this was the trait you took if you wanted crash-landed aliens, Monty Python references, and other silly and possibly immersion-breaking jokes in the game. Otherwise you didn't get them. I personally LOVE the fart jokes (extremely historically accurate!) but I understand the position of the people who are tired of them. We need a Fart Joke toggle.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll get one, because at this point the farts and other silliness are so baked into the pie with so many different events that it would probably be impossible to separate them out. It would require rewriting non-farty non-cat-apulty versions of so many events. The devs seem unwilling to revise old events even to make sure absolutely ridiculous things don't happen, like a Compassionate Just Honest heir randomly becoming a murderer because the event said so, so I'm pretty sure the farts are here to stay.

This has also already been addressed. A lot of people, including myself, wanted a game rule to turn off silly events, just like there were game rules in CK2 to turn off absurd and supernatural events. Some of the developers have said outright that they won't do anything like that because they don't want to reduce the content. The fact that many players would very much like to reduce content so that that particular content doesn't ruin their game experience was not really taken into consideration.

To be fair, the oldest surviving joke from ancient Mesopotamia is about farting. These kind of jokes have been around since the invention of farting. Quite a number of medieval jokes are of similar type.

I believe people making fart jokes during ww2 too. Imagine an event about Stalin farting during one of his STAVKA meetings in HoI4.

CK3 would need a silly/supernatural mode like CK2 had.
We were assured there would be no supernatural content in CK3. There's a real giggle faction on the team that needs to be reined in.

The root of the problem though is that CK3 doesn't really have an events system. They just have an events library. There's no way for modders to intercept events and modify or block them, short of just updating every single event. I would love to add a little block button on events that prevents the player (or any character) from getting the event.

The issue with the events for me is their scale. I don't really just want to be playing Medieval SIMS, I want to be playing the politics of the Middle Ages and encounter Medieval history. I would like for there to be more event chains around important developments, such as the spread of the Black Death, or the rise of Joan of Arc, dealing with the rising power of the bughers at the expense of feudal lords, the 4th Crusade, and other iconic/important events.

This is partly why I was extremely disappointed that the DLC that eventually became Tours and Tournaments was supposed to be *another* RPG addition to the game. While the final version of the new feasts, tournaments, and such is a welcome addition, I would like there to be a much greater focus on the actual Medieval part of this Medieval Grand Strategy Game.

Counterpoint - CK3 follows the player character very intimately, much more so than HoI4 does for comparison - Stalin no doubt had his own embarrassing moments, but you don't hear about those - in no small part because they would have clashed with his image. But that doesn't mean nothing of that nature ever happened.

Medieval aristrocrats no doubt had to visit the toilet, but you don't hear about those moments - in no small part because they would have clashed with their image. But that doesn't mean nothing of that nature ever happened.
In order to better immerse ourselves with deep and intimate content with our characters, I propose two additional "rescource bars" to say - Fullness and Flatulence.
If your monarch is gluttonous, they would receive more Fullness, but also they would push the limits to make place for all the good stuff during the Feasts with vassals. The Fullness would need to be periodically emptied, which would provide a great opportunity for roleplay as courtierts could overhear and laugh, also it would be a good opportunity for scheming agents, as historically more than few monarchs have met their death in such intimate moment.
Finally, Flatulence resource bar would be filled passively each day (constrains of the engine, alas), and allowing it to reach the threshold could result in an event that is visible only to the player, as he follows the player character very intimately.

I agree. Taking a big dump at the right moment should relieve a huge amount of stress. Taking it at the wrong moment though, can result in a lot of stress, especially if the character is Arrogant, Shy or Lustful (reduce the chance of getting laid). An event for toilet relief everyday can improve immersion greatly. Also more stuffs for players to do = better.

Counterpoint - CK3 follows the player character very intimately, much more so than HoI4 does for comparison - Stalin no doubt had his own embarrassing moments, but you don't hear about those - in no small part because they would have clashed with his image. But that doesn't mean nothing of that nature ever happened.
In my opinion, the fact that CK3 is trying to follow our character this intimately is one of the main problems. As I wrote above, CK3 is a game that spans centuries. One day means nothing, because one day in the game passes in a second. That's one of the elements of grand strategy, and the events should reflect that grandness as well. The game itself is not even adapted to simulate situations taking place in such a short period of time. This can be seen in the latest DLC, where a hunting trip takes several in-game months (as opposed to the few days it actually took in reality). I understand the inspiration of The Sims, but even CK2 had a good level of "The Sims elements", there's no need to push those elements to such extreme level. I'd rather see the grand strategy be more grand and more strategy and less everyday mundane stuff.
