So I'm playing my first game with the new patch and DLC and I have no problem with resources, I'm getting a ton of all of them. I've been playing for like 4 hours now and I've always had an abundance of all the resources so its getting boring. I'm building starbases, fleets, buildings, districts, etc. and I really haven't had any challenge at all and I have the game set to Commodore. What am I doing wrong?

I think you need to give us more information, for example I run into mayor problems of resources early and even now in the late game I have energy and mineral problems but that's because I'm playing tall. I think the game is easy because AI can't handle this new changes before this patch for example I sometimes have to surrender to another empire early to survive playing tall, now I never face a real threat because how weak the AI, even in the higher difficulty, is because don't know how to build a proper economy.

I have three planets, plenty of territory, 4 starbases, 25 fleet size, and energy, minerals, consumer goods, food, and alloys are all about 30+ and above. If you tell me what info you need, I'll give it to you. I just don't know what else I need to do. I just have so many resources that I don't know how to spend all of it

You have a really low amount of ships so that's why you don't need as much alloys, energy and mineral production but as soon you try to build a bigget fleet you will feel the impact on your economy. Maybe you don't have so many pops in the empire so you don't have problems in consumer goods and that leads to don't need as much food to keep that poblation, if you go bigger (not in terms of space but in population) you will need more consumer goods, and that leads to more minerals to keep up with that production. And keep in mind that to produce unity, amenities and even research you will need and exponential amount of consumer goods. Base in what are you saying you have a small empire and you aren't threat by AI empires so thats why you have a good economy.

Sounds like you got lucky with the starting planets you found. I've had a problem in my last couple of games where all of my surrounding planets had very few mineral districts so I've had to struggle to keep my economy going by buying from the market. Can't expand too far because I'm playing a Megacorp but my plan is to focus my economy on advanced resources so that I can buy the minerals from the galactic market and then sell the surplus of advanced resources.

What you do with the resources you've got is up to you from here. You can use them to wage war on the galaxy or you can use them to retool your empire so that it's focused on peaceful pursuits like research or amenities.

I googled "stellaris too easy" and this thread popped up. My buddy and I playing on Admiral, who have been MP this game for years, are sitting with fleets around 30k where the AI has fleets around 5k. Everyone around us is pathetic in technology AND fleet power. We are finding it to be incredibly easy compared to before. So, the OP is definitely on to something. We're going to try grand admiral next and see if it bumps up the AI competence, but it seems a problem with the AI.

What I noticed is that when you have the AI manage sectors, they don't build like the should. Instead of building alloy production and subsequent fleets, they are building food production to a ridiculous surplus. If the AI is doing this on our sectors then they must be doing for enemy AI.

My two cents, sum ting wong.
