Wow, there are a lot of techs in Black ICE which looks more complicated than the division designer. I like your presentation though, it was very digestible and made sense despite never playing the mod. Have you considered any tanks, or will you be able to license most things from the Allies? Australia had some pretty interesting designs that never saw combat.

Actually, yes, I do plan to research my own armor, but will probably license produce any heavy armor or specialized armour (amphibious armor, used when attacking rivers, or from oceans)

For the first year or so, I will probably license armor, as Australia does not have the ability to produce any for the moment.

None of the tech's that i'm actually researching are later than the year 1937.

Though there are techs present in the screenshot that are later, those are not being researched yet
You are in '36 so '37 is in advance, even if you don't get the grossly in advance notice.

In BICE, is the tech research and leadership system and numbers broadly the same as with vanilla? Because that’s an awful lot of research planned. How many projects can Australia actually research at the start?

Tech has to be prioritized, for example planes, even if you only select interceptors as your planes, you still have to research 5 techs to even research interceptor each year, not to speak of armaments 1,5 tech/ year, air sys and avionics each 1 per year, Interceptor tactics/pilots/ground crew total 3/year, so 12,5 techs each year.
Ship classes are each around 10-15 techs/year and so on.

I my opinion minors can't afford to research anything that is not current year or earlier as even next year cost 3-4 tech researches that are all vital.

At the moment, I have a leadership of 30. Most majors can have something like 60 to 90.

I wasn't actually aware of that. Being honest, the only real difference between a 36 and a 37 tech appears to be about half a month. but that might be simply due to my higher capital ship practical versus my submarine practical.
image_2021-07-18_093650.png

In this case, sea lane defense and fleet auxiliary submarine have the same difficulty (five). Sea lane is a 35 tech, while fleet submarine is a 36 tech. if I can find a 37 tech with the same difficulty as a 36 tech with the same theories, I will try and find them

Great stuff so far. Loving the fact we're getting a Black Ice AAR to complement @RustyHunter 's recent HPP effort. Australia is also quite a fun nation to play. I'm also liking the style of the writing, I can tell it's going to be a nice ride, even if Tokyo '45 were to prove elusive.

Enjoying this so far. I have never tried Black Ice. Even installing it seemed complex. Tried HPP a couple of times but those games keep crashing right when things became interesting.

A general update

Isaac woke up at 4 in the morning, hearing thunder strike in the background. He looked to his Deborah, hoping that her comforting presence could lull him to sleep. However when lightning lit up the face of his partner, all there was there was a shadowy emptiness. It was the Man in the top hat. As Isaac got up with a start, the man got up, and drew the curtain

Isaac wants his wife back
"You again!?" The man tilted his head slightly at this "Yes. It is me. I bring an offer for your consideration. Should you fail to deliver us bullion--" Isaac interrupted him "Let me guess, you will poison someone!?" "No, no. should you fail, we will fail to provide you access to what you call rare materials."
WHO ARE YOU.PNG

Isaac spluttered for a few minutes, as he tried to get his bearings, eventually sorting out his thoughts. "We? what do you mean we?" The man in the top hat was quick to reply "As the governor of OMG island, I am legally allowed to make this limited offer."
"I'm sorry, What Island?"
Ah yes that makes sense.PNG

"OMG island."

Isaacs was tired of arguing with the man, and he wanted his wife back. "Yes, alright, whatever you want. leave me alone." But unfortunately, the man was not finished. "If you ever wish to trade with me, just tell Deborah that you wish to trade with OMG." Immediately after these words, lightning struck right outside the window, shining a blinding light into the window. When his eyes cleared up, Isaac found himself lying back in bed. He looked to his left to see Deborah. However, instead of his Deborah, he met the eyes of a young scientist, who happily opened his mouth.
My leader, we participated in the great war.PNG

"Governor General, are you aware that we took part in the first world war?"
For the first time in his life, Isaac screamed like a girl

I cringed a little when I read that line ... :eek::D
For the first time in his life, Isaac screamed like a girl
But was then far more relieved than Isaac was when it was just a tech update. :p

I get event spam at midnight to 1 in the morning, there’s only so many ways I can interpret that
It was quite the twist, and certainly not what I expected! Phrasing might have been a little suggestive as Bullfilter noted, but I honestly didn't notice until he pointed it out.

I don't mind the quiet update, you at least made it funny despite the game being a little slow.

The actual general update

The use of the intelligentsia was refined on the 13th, from an even spread to all possible roles to mainly focus on research, so to better achieve McLahens dream.
Tech distrib.PNG

Spiess.PNG
Diplo.PNG
officers.PNG

After some money had been saved, the navy was also trained to be more specialized. This was done through overlooking some violations in naval training that were more efficient, if slightly more wasteful in money.
navy.PNG

Research , having been more focused began on certain "critical" areas of reasearch
Tech line.PNG
More.PNG

Canada, seemingly sympathetic desiring to be helpful, made a trade offer to us. We accepted, though it was clear that Parkhill was slightly enthused by this. Notably, it appeared that some of Australia's bullion reserves were disappearing at midnight, being replaced with some rather confusing rare materials instead.
Canada.PNG

In order to prop up the bullion reserves, some military supplies were sent to Switzerland, who sent back some bullion. (we sent them 200 supplies, and they gave us 200 gold)
BIS.PNG

Bis2.PNG

The most important news however was the sudden replacement of Isaac Alfred Isaacs with Alexander Gore Arkwright.
New leader.PNG

"I cannot wait to see the new Governor general" commented Lyons. "Me too! I think Isaac was getting a bit exhausted in the last months, he kept muttering about poison in the water." Lavarack chimed in, with Lyons flashing him a mild glare. Colvin, Not wanting to be ignored, butted in "He was such a stern imperialist, demanding plans to invade this tiny uninhabited island near Antarctica." Patterson, not usually one to socialize in these cabinets decides to speak up "As long as we don't get one like him, I will be happy."

And then Alexander Gore Arkwright entered the room "I want war plans to invade Saudi Arabia at once!" He yelled.
news.PNG

In related news, a minor espionage war was taking place between Saudi Arabia and Australia

There is an event to replace Isaac with Arkwright, but I can't trigger it.
Was this a historical change or something else? I'm afraid my Australian history is not very good.
